Speaking only for myself, I have no issues with him being at the top right now. I can objectively say that no one on Raw gets better face reactions. No one else gets the people going like that. He's got the hot hand, which is a minor miracle after they fukked up on pulling the trigger when he came back from the injury.

BUT. Dude ticks off almost all of the boxes as far as indy shyt I hate. Mind you, I love the indies. But i've got a 2012 Davey Richards meter. The closer you are to his days of getting head dropped 5 times in a row, kicking out, and acting like nothing happened, the more i'm taken out of the match, and the more I end up resenting you.

Seth isn't quite there. But he places high enough on the scale that I can't connect to his work fully. I'll get hype (the work rate is ridiculoussss) and then 2 minutes later something happens and i'm just like "wait, why..." I didn't much connect to him as Tyler Black either. So i'm happy for his success, and i'm happy for those that love the dude's work. But he's not fully for me.

I swear before the rumors of him winning the rumble, the general consesus on here was he deserved to be on top. However now that he is actually getting that push all of a sudden the tsc never liked him.. I be on here enough to know that I never heard a bad word about Seth on here from more than one person at a time before he started getting the top spot push

All I know is that this not new in here. A lot of us have considered Seth to be a B+ player for years and made it known for years. Last year it became more of a thing once WWE started pushing him like a world class worker and he got exposed as a 1 trick pony that sometimes makes it work and sometimes falls flat on his face. Don't know what else to tell ya breh :manny:

I mean, Becky and Ronda deserve to Main Event to me. If they weren't around with the hot feud, then i'd give it to Seth.

I like Seth. When the Shield was together he covered up a lot of Roman and Dean's lack of wrestling ability. In the triple threat with Cena/Brock, he held his own and made the match a lot more than people counting suplexes. Dude is basically a generic face, and it works for him. They don't need to get super gimmicky with him. If anybody is overrated it's Daniel Bryan. Some of his PPV matches be straight up :russell:status.

Damn, Roman really was the best member of the SHIELD
Roman comes from a wrestling family. His limitations put aside, he probably always had a better sense of how to work a match than Seth and Dean did.

The weird thing to me with Seth is that during his Authority heel run his matches didn't seem such spot-to-spot fests. Either because he was working heel or because of all the extra Authority/J&J Security stuff, but his matches were much fresher than him wrestling the same babyface style match without any story or psychology over and over.

They did all that to cover up his shortcomings

He's sloppy. The curb stomp isn't a babyface finisher at all.

Agree with all of this, it's exactly how I feel. Great workrate, great pops, crowd loves him. I'm good with him being top face in that regard.

But it's the shyt during his matches that I feel are disconnected. I guess maybe Indy like you said, is the word. Very your turn, my turn. Spot, spot, spot. Not hard hitting. Doesn't have the grit/realism that D-Bry/AJ bring. And that's where it becomes just another formulaic match for me. I mean just a few months ago dude actually got boring chants on a PPV. Doesn't matter if his dancing partner was Dean, that should not happen.

The above is sort of how I feel about Finn too (Seth is not as bad though.)

Finn and Seth both really only have like 4 go to moves in their repertoire. It is "your spot, my spot" with them

DBry and Styles are diverse and have a plethora of moves they use. No 2 of their matches feel similar

This is a post I made about 2 years ago.

The problem that Seth has and it goes back to his early years on the indy scene, I don't think he worked an extensive program (if at all) with the guys from the 80's or 90's, who know how to work a proper match and/or had experience of wrestling on TV/PPV's. All he was doing, was wrestling his peers (people in the same position, 1-2 years experience or good indy names) in those early days. I'd say the best guy he faced was Nigel and he doesn't fit that category.

If you look at the Main 3 indy guys from 2000, Punk, Bryan & AJ.

Punk feuded w/ Raven for a year

Bryan had Regal as a mentor and travelled the world.

AJ got to work w/ Daniels, Jerry Lynn, Dusty and people like XPac, DLo, Joey Matthews, Doug Williams, Garza & Killings to name a few in his first 4 years. People who were very good workers, in-ring psychology or had national TV/PPV exposure

TSC turns on EVERBODY, NO wrestler deserves to be on top according to these guys

So now no one like anyone in the shield? this forum is so as the new daniel bryan says fickle, yall turn on people faster than bytches.. seriously who do yall want to be champ?

It feels like it wasn't that long ago...he'll, even when he was with the Shield, the general gripe was that Ambrose should be heel and Seth should be getting a main event underdog push in the vein of a Jeff Hardy. I also recall people saying that Daniel Bryan should be champion with a proper run.

Here we are in 2019....Reigns is gone, Seth is main-eventing Mania, Ambrose is heel, Daniel Bryan is champion and feuding with AJ STYLES....

...and cats are here like :snooze: ::

And here we are again and I'll ask now like I asked then. If not Seth, who? I haven't seen much mention of Braun or Balor in this thread. Only main event suggestion I've seen was having Becky and Ronda headline...

Who should be taking :brawk: on instead and who should be pinning who at Mania for Big Red?
