but, I think partly what he's talking about is the domesticity of relationships, and how kids factor into that process

the idea that you can fly to wherever you want, take trips, go shoot a movie, go to France, shoot back to LA, have places on both coasts, that sounds great. The idea that you would have to be a Dad/Mom kind of takes all that to a different place.

like for me, on my own financial life level, I like that, as described above, but when things start getting into like buying detergent or trash bags, brushing your teeth side by side, and climbing into bed, I just have no interest.

I can't help but feel apprehensive towards people like him though. My general feeling is that society is churning out more and more nihilistic adults. Some of it is down to society failing younger people (lack of opportunities, wage not matching the cost of living) but I attribute a lot of it to the media we consume.

It doesn't create a positive image to aspire to. It just encourages to point out the flaws in society and bitterly accept them.

Lol the world is literally overpopulated and polluted. Not bringing more kids in the world is actually the smarter thing to do right now.

I don't have kids. But it's so annoying to listen to people without kids act like people with children are miserable. Because that's really all Seth Rogen is saying here.

"I have time to do all the things I want to do and all the things I need to do" = I smoke weed a lot. Like, A LOT. And not having kids allows me to smoke A LOT OF WEED. And bang my wife sometimes. And if I need to make a movie to fund my lifestyle of smoking a lot of weed, I can do that. Because I don't have kids. And the responsibility of having kids can limit parents' ability to do what they want to do.

That's REALLY what he's saying.
Which is fine.
But that's the subtext and it sounds a lot more goofy than the dressed up bullshyt he said in that video.



Edit - Because I got called out on it in a later post, I'll clarify that it's annoying to have to listen to his explanation for why he doesn't have kids.
But it's fine that he chose not to have kids, as a personal decision.

As if there couldn't be ANYTHING else he'd like to pursue that would be more difficult had he had kids. He's in a creative field for one, that would likely be impeded. It makes life generally simpler for 2. Personal growth & actualization within themselves and his relationship dynamic is allowed to actually progress without distraction.

Most of you have kids to feel like you "completed" something in life. To check something off, or feel like you've accomplished something. Most don't even know themselves that well prior to raising another human. Nearly as narcisistic as
religion, which also only exists to benefit human emotions.
