meh, as an old head I’ve watched so many people and peers over years express how much they don’t want kids only to be the happiest person in the world when their SO gets pregnant.

Yeah but how happy are they when they have a child. It’s the idea of a child that brings more happiness than the reality

Would they be as happy if they got a divorce?

i would almost believe him if you couldn’t see it in his eyes and that stupid nervous laughter tic that he’s not confident in what he’s saying. and you can tell he’s miserable because he looks like dog shyt for 40 and being “in his prime” with all the time in the world to do ……????…..

1. I think the nervous laugh is because he knows the topic is taboo

2. He looks like “dog shyt” at 40 because he’s a cac

This may sound kind of elitist, but let's be real: most people are basic and dont have shyt going on if they don't have kids.

I know so many people who partied/travelled through their 20s and popped up outta nowhere with a baby post-pandemic now that we are in our 30s. Most people aren't creating the next Apple or Amazon, they not writing the next great American novel, they not meditating for 40 days and 40 nights to become a sufi mystic or buddhist monk, they not running for political office. Just watching HBO Max, travelling with their wife/husband if they got one, drinking, partying, consuming drugs, eating out and going to work/small business. A lot of people need the identity of "father/husband" or "wife/mother" because they don't have anything really important going on and that existential dread starts to creep in.

This.

This is a dumb reason. Because you have habitual liars, scammers, etc who can tell you a lie and be confident and charismatic about it. Then you can have an honest person who has social anxiety, ADHD, depression, or is just introverted that can tell you the truth and be jittery. Matter of fact it would make more sense to me that he would be nervous sharing something so personal considering he has tourettes too.
i mean we can agree to disagree but people cope every day. its a difference between lying to gain something or scam someone else, and making a major life decision and being confident and at ease in it at the big age of 40. even social anxiety depression or whatever pathology you want to blame it on means you aint really happy as you say you are obviously. insecurity and nihilism combined together are like the opposite of happiness

This is a lie. For example you can have social anxiety and be happy as clown in a circus when you're alone.

And happiness is subjective and relative in this discussion. Seth could be relatively happier as a childless man than he would be as a father.

It's not black and white as you're painting it.

Relying on your kids (who could easily turn out to be bad vibe humans) being there in old age is insane.

Build a community of friends, other family members, mentors and mentes, such that you are not reliant on your kids checking in on you at the nursing home when old.
So dont rely on your own kids but rely on cousins (if you even have them), and ‘other family members’ who may be long gone by then. Yea that makes sense

‘Rely on a community of friends’. Yea a community of friends that you can’t even relate to bc they’re out doing family things. Do you know how awkward it is to grow older and everybody else is a parent and/or married. And you just there like that’s what’s up :pachaha:

‘A mentee’ :heh: yea you can’t trust your own kids but you can trust some random you talked to every once in a while. They’re gonna look at you like who this weirdo

The logic I tell you

Good for him.

I can't help but feel apprehensive towards people like him though. My general feeling is that society is churning out more and more nihilistic adults. Some of it is down to society failing younger people (lack of opportunities, wage not matching the cost of living) but I attribute a lot of it to the media we consume.

It doesn't create a positive image to aspire to. It just encourages to point out the flaws in society and bitterly accept them.

I hope none of @dr. pill biden kids are born with Tourettes or any social disorder. Type of parent to beat the ADHD and Tourettes "out" of their child.

never understood this rational
just have money, it will be more beneficial than kids
burdening your kids is people's plan :snoop:
what if your kid is in another state or country
Well, I see the benefits in real life, though.
