Sergey Kovalev will be back in tough, as the 31-year-old Krusher (26-0 with 23 KOs) will look to continue his streak of momentum gained from schooling old master Bernard Hopkins, in his next outing, which will come against Canadian vet Jean Pascal (age 32), date and site TBD.

I spoke to Kovalev promoter Kathy Duva, who confirmed that a Kovalev-Pascal scrap is in the works, and will be finished up shortly. "We are close," she told me.

The Russian will meet the 29-2 Pascal, which means Adonis Stevenson, who has yapped that he'd like a crack at Kovalev, will not, at least not in the near term. Pascal first must get past Roberto Bolonti (35-3) on a Saturday card in Montreal.

I don't think these fighters really understood how much of a gamble they were taking putting their careers in Haymon's hands.

I like Haymon too, but they fukked up. Had he been the one to beat Hopkins, the chips would have been on his side. Kovalev and Duva are playing chess, and recognize their own momentum. Good for them.

edit post: LOL at Stevenson calling Pascal an undercard fighter, meanwhile Stevenson is at risk to actually become an undercard fighter. He'll be a bodyguard soon enough.

It would be one thing if these dudes were active. I just look at the Quillin situation and the Thurman situation and hope that Hellmon don't fukk these boys over.

Haymon has pretty much destroyed Adonis' career with his advisement. No way he should not be fighting one of these guys next.

Feel the same breh. With Stevenson, it's not so big of a deal to me because he came into the game late as ever. Quillin is 31 though which is still young but not the age to be making bad decisions. Thurman is only 25 I believe, so he's got time. I'm still waiting to see how Haymon's plans with NBC come to fruition so I'm not judging him harshly just yet.

Funny, I didn't even know Stevenson already addressed this.

http://www.badlefthook.com/2014/11/...nson-discusses-jean-pascal-and-sergey-kovalev

On a fight with Jean Pascal and the purse split: "I think the WBC allows 30%. And that's a lot for him, because in three years he hasn't fought a top 10 opponent at 175. So that's 30% he can have. That's it."
On Stevenson vs Kovalev: "The world needs this fight. It won't be watched only in Quebec City, we'd be watched all over the world. You see Bute and Pascal, they fight together, but the world's not interested. They don't sell a lot on TV because people don't want to watch that fight. The world needs Adonis and Kovalev."
On people who say he's ducked Kovalev: "They don't know nothing about boxing. I can say, Kovalev can say we wanna fight. You have to deal with TV, you have to deal with the managers, you have to deal with the promoters. But I know Al Haymon, my manager, is going to work on that. Kathy Duva is (Kovalev's) promoter. She has to make contact with the promoter and the manager and the TV. That's the problem. They have to fix it. The TV, they have to fix it."
