I have a feeling Obama took a page from FDR. FDR was a populist but also very politically savvy.

When they first came up with the idea of social security, many people in his cabinet and democrats in congress wanted to make social security only for the poor at first.

FDR was like fukk that and said he wants EVERYONE to have it, including the rich. His reasoning was because he knew that at some point some Republican congress and president would come into power and he knew that the "money men" would coerce them to remove Social Security if it only helped the poor. So his reasoning was that he wants even the rich to pull from social security because they would feel "entitled" to those funds that they also paid into ir. This also removes the political capital from a Republican congress in getting rid of it in the future because even the rich benefit even though relatively speaking, its a drop in the bucket money wise compared to the poorer Americans.

Turns out he is right 70 something years later and no one is dare discussing about getting rid of Social security without fear they will piss a significant amount of people off. People like Paul Ryan flirt with modifying it but no one has the gall to outright remove it..yet

I have a feeling even if certain segments of the ACA is modified, there are many provisions that are over time going to become cemented that no congress will ever have the political capital to remove. Everyone knows someone who is sick and illness does not discriminate. The only problem is, and this is where Obama and the Democrats failed, is educating people exactly everything that is in ACA. There is still a sizeable portion of people who are ignorant and think ACA is a healthcare plan. @Uncle Hotep is one of those individuals and I quote said "I don't have Obamacare" at one time. Everyone has Obamacare through the protections it provides in one way or another. Its not only about the marketplace exchanges. Democrats need to have a campaign to educate people on this matter.
Agree with all of this. The ACA is now intertwined into American life. People got a taste of universal health care and won't go back. The Republicans have tried to spin the issue but the Senators know getting rid of it completely amounts to political suicide.

If any other Republican besides Trump was in office, they would've had the ACA modified and done by now. He and his cronies have their ego wrapped in dismantling anything related to Obama and its going to hurt their political capital if it hasn't already.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
With stupid fukking Trump supporters, the republikunts will take the brunt of beating, with the rest of the country, Trump will take the beating for letting ACA die without intervening. His polls are going to plummet to levels we have never seen at any time in our history. He will be the most hated man in our history, wait and see. Would love to rejoice in this, but too many innocent people are going to be affected by this sh1t. He needs to be dragged out of the White House by the people.

Nah.

I know I say this a lot but his supporters will always support Trump (and the GOP in general) and just blame Obama/liberals/immigrants/lazy black people/etc for whatever Trump does. His support is already pretty close to being bottomed out IMO. The people that still support him will continue to do so regardless of what he does.

IMO Trump's support can't go below 35% or so.

Just one day after saying Republicans should repeal ObamaCare without a replacement, President Trump told GOP senators during a White House lunch to cancel their August recess and keep working until they both repeal and replace ObamaCare.

Trump to GOP senators: Cancel your recess until you pass healthcare bill
President Trump previously encouraged Republicans to repeal ObamaCare without a replacement.

It only is he incompetent, but he is lazy fat fukk.

Look at all the work Obama put in to push Obama Care. This fat fukk doesn't have the intelligence or work ethic to put in work like that.

I remember Obama inviting the entire GOP caucus to a meeting, he battled and slaughtered all of them for dolo.
i remember that, he was jabbing away their questions like it was nothing and was like let's keep going it doesn't have to end. faux news cut away like fukk this nikka showing us and up and shyt.

Why? The ACA is fine in some parts of the country and needs improvements in other parts. Why not do the logical thing and work together and improve what needs to be improved?
because it was fine before hand :francis: imo
