I don't usually sell stuff on eBay but I had a bunch of stuff I just decided to get rid of and there's basically nowhere else to sell it. You won't get anywhere near fair value for anything on Facebook Marketplace. Craigslist is dead locally. Amazon is too strict.

eBay is now taking 10% of everything I sell for final value fees. Counting PayPal taking 3% I'm losing 13% on everything I sell plus they're charging me those fees on the shipping cost so it's more than that.

All this totally ignores the fact that eBay will hang your ass out to dry if a buyer wants to scam you. So far nobody has tried to scam me and I've sold about 10 items for about $770 in sales.

Facebook Marketplace is so bad I put my Sonos Playbar on there for $360 and I got an offer of about $200. $360 is a pretty decent price for a Playbar in mint condition considering you'll pay shipping if you buy on eBay that will likely put it over that.

cosign all that...

i had a vintage board that went for 100 on ebay in april... i out mine on fbmarketplace.. only got 40.. smh

Offer up

Right ? I used to sell on amazon but they made me wait up to 21 days to receive the funds

So I went to ebay. It was great at first but then they started billing me each month I sold shyt :francis:

Sold a phone for like $300 and over a month later I get a statement I get a bill for 80$ in seller fees and I'm like "of fukk I forgot all about that":francis:

Uses to sell online a few months back...I would usually have to wait 2 to 3 weeks before Paypal would release the funds :beli:

Then Ebay would creep up like
M7HEt5u.gif

For the end of the month selling fee.....:pacspit:

Y’all thought selling on ebay would be free :heh:

The fees aren't a problem for me. It's getting scammed. There's no seller protection. I have sneakers I want to sell, but if I get got, I'm shyt out of luck.

You're 100% on eBay having 0 seller protection.
Nike-Air-Flight-One-NRG-Galaxy.jpg

I sold a pair 2012 Flight One Galaxies on there for $350 (I think the value on these has dropped since then, ask @Brad Piff), shipped via USPS. Buyer claimed non-receipt even though USPS showed package was delivered, even called their local USPS site and they confirmed it...but because I didn't have the buyer sign off on arrival of the package, eBay ruled in their favor and charged the $350 from my PayPal account. To this day it's hardest I've been scammed. Filed it as a "stupid tax" and kept it moving, but man...left a bitter taste in my mouth for a couple years.

I always divide MY price by .8 to cover Feebay and shipping. I see on average 80% of whatever the item sells for after postage.

Gotta protect yourself on eBay though. Check buyer feedback. Get tracking.

I'm not a power seller but I've been selling on eBay for years never once had an issue with a buyer.

Also ebay is owner by paypal which when I used it was only way to receive payments for the most parr (years ago maybe things changed) so theyre double dipping on the fees

eBay spun off PayPal. They're also preparing to distance themselves from PayPal. The process will begin in a few months.
eBay to Intermediate Payments on its Marketplace Platform

EBay and PayPal split in 2015. My friends still work for PayPal.

I've been selling shyt on eBay for the longest, never had issues especially with the scammers.

I've posted my sales from ring fit adventure which I was selling at $200 a pop in April.

Selling shyt in general is a hassle unless you know how to run business. I've sold plenty on Craig's too, I dont like pawn shop game stop hustle. I want every cent I can get.

Buying from some places is more of a hassle than selling.

Anyone that uses gun broker knows.

I thought to myself let's see how stupid people are.

I don't think eBay should be free but I don't think they should be taking over 10% of everything you sell on there. On top of that all the money you pay them as a seller and they will not stand up for you at all. eBay will just throw you under a bus.
Yeah for the fee they charge, they need to step in on your behalf. I used to sell on Amazon. They are a bit better when it comes to scamming, but not completely.

Pro tip for anyone on any of these sites. Pay for the signature confirmation, and pay for the insurance. With UPS you can only insure up to $1000. But with Fedex, there isn't really a limit from what I've seen, it just gets more expensive the higher the value of the object you are insuring. I still use UPS because most of items would be under a grand, and I just seem to say way more UPS stores around my area so it's much easier to do drop offs and stuff like that. Just my two cents.

I have had decent luck with ebay except couple of times. One time they completely removed my shoe (yeezy) saying it was fake lmao. I had receipt and everything, called them and asked to provide them proof and they just said "well our guy decided it was fake so it is fake", I doubt the idiot knew anything.

Another time was this a$$hole guy who was mad at shipping, I have my shipping set to a random one but I usually just deliver most things as priority. He got mad because I didn't ship it as exactly even though he got his item a day earlier than he would have if I shipped it how he wanted it.

I dont like the fees but it is what it is.

I always did craigslist in the past for the consoles and bigger items, idk if I would do that for when I eventually sell my PS4.

yeah shyt is annoying. not to mention using apps like Offer Up where people are just idiots...you put exactly what the price and description of the item is and still get tons of messages asking for information you clearly posted for them to read.

or the classic "is this still available" message where i instantly respond "yes" and they never reply again :pachaha:
and the spam/scammers

Can you ship this to me in florida?

yeah just buy it and give me the address

this app isn't working can we talk on cashapp?

how are you talking to me then?

*ghosts me*

And here comes the bullshyt. Somebody with 0 feedback is claiming the package delivered 3 days ago according to USPS tracking never arrived. This same person asked me to ship it to their cousin's home. I usually don't deal with 0 feedback people but I wasn't really paying attention.

It's so stupid that eBay asks me to provide tracking when I always use their site to purchase and print the shipping. They know the package was delivered because it's in their system.

Update: called eBay and pointed out the tracking on their site said delivered by the USPS. They closed the case in my favor immediately.

I know the dude was lying because he never contacted me 3 days after it said delivered he filed a claim against me without a word. If I bought an item and the tracking said delivered I wouldn't wait 3 days to contact the seller nor would I not contact the USPS to see what happened to it. Guy had the nerve to ask for a refund yesterday. That's what triggered me to call eBay and wrap this up.

I had someone do something slightly different; I sold my old receiver a few years ago as is and the buyer almost a few weeks later tried to start a refund claiming that it was broken. I know I don't sell broken stuff, I asked what was broken and he replied the volume knob. Now the volume knob wasn't broken but you can easily pull it out but it goes right back in, similar to how certain stoves have the little knob that can be replaced. I told him ok w/e and Ebay said when he sends the item back for me to refund. The guy never sends the item back so I contacted Ebay and they opened an investigation and fortunately dude never sent it back and didn't say anything afterwards so it was closed.

I just sold a Nintendo Switch Lite I bought from Gamestop back to Ebay literally minutes after opening it Friday night. I paid $213 total for it including tax at Gamestop. Sold it for $205+tax/shipping which came up to $226. I basically broke even. I don't even want to deal with Ebay with their fees.

Couldn't you have just returned it? You lose 13% on eBay.

I don’t think gamestop is processing returns right now as a result of the virus since they’re only doing curbside pickups...they’re not processing trade-ins either

While we are operating under Delivery@Door protocols, we will not be able to accept returns and exchanges. We will, however, be adjusting our exchange and return policy to allow you more time to return recent purchases once our stores are fully reopened. Finally, in order to ensure your and our associates utmost safety, we have temporarily suspended our product-trade-in service. Please make note that we have reduced our store operational hours to 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Ebay selling fees are a pain in the ass but selling things on Ebay got me all my extra money during college. I was suprised at the things people would buy. My grandfather wanted to throw away all my cousins old shyt and I got them instead.

Made thousands off of ebay, talking about balling. :whew:
