i think the naming of black in the U.S. is decided on(or influenced) by the NAACP... I dont remember where I read it, but apparently they campaigned to have us called different things at various times in the last 50-60yrs...

I think if you are Black and from America, they consider you an American. Negro is a way of saying he is Black and American.
We are truly rare and unique in the history of the world. This is why people who never step foot in America or never met an African-American can form an opinion on us, because we are in the history books.
We have a common history in America in the early beginnings. This is the position Blacks have in America that no other immigrant will ever have. Every single one of them will be considered foreigners. Our position in America is a birth right.
You better believe immigrants feel second to whites and blacks. American Indians should not be forgotten, but they have a lower profile.

I love how white people (and now brown people, I guess) turn it back around on blacks......"blacks always want a handout, you think the world owes you a favor"......when the reality is the world does owe us because an entire country was built off the backs of slave labor and our forefathers were never compensated.
