Finished last night. Great game, but I think too much was lost in focusing on one style of combat.

Fights never really evolved or offered a different challenge once you got the hang of the parry system. Stealth and grappling hook gave an easy out that other From games don’t have, made this game feel much easier overall.

Story stuff was easier to follow and very interesting this time around.
I literally just got done finishing my first playthrough of Dark Souls and I'll say that world traversal and exploration are definitely harder in Souls but the bosses in Sekiro are much, much harder. Artorias was nuts but a lot of the difficulty of the bosses in Souls really came to me not having the right equipment for the job (weak armor/shield or weak DPS) where it was an issue of skill and memorization in Sekiro. Definitely feel the bosses are better designed and more skill based in Sekiro, which should be the case, they're designing things better as the years go on.

Well that’s kinda what I’m saying.

Honestly the most difficult boss for me in Sekiro was Lady Butterfly, but she taught me the flow of combat for the entire game. After her I (obviously still died a lot) felt like i figured the game out and and it was pretty easy for me.

Bosses fell into two categories. Aggressive attacks and parrying in order to break posture, or patient dodges and blocks, to take one or two swipes during an opening.

I like the idea of the souls games forcing you to learn some new skills and/or push your character to acquire new weapons/powers.

That’s what I felt was missing in Sekiro.

I felt this is most well done out of these types of games.
  • The movement and attacking isn't janky on purpose to make things more difficult than they are.
  • Hitboxes were mostly alright
  • The rest points point always placed in good locations
However,
  • I wish Wolf did more dmg, battles are pretty slow.
  • The prosethic extensions were just okay, half of them werent very special

I'm fine with the amount of damage wolf does.

The prosthetics however weren't a good excuse for not having an assortment of weapons.

The lack of different types of weapons is the only thing keeping me from putting it over bloodborne.

I definitely agree with the lack of weapons. But do admit that if I didn't have to use katana, some of these fights would be trival. Seeing how they did animations for katana, I'd like to see for tonfas

I found some of the boss fights were drawn out too long by the low damage output, and were made unfun because of it.

Just cheesed DOH with the falloff method.....Shinobi excellence :mjlit:

If they want to put Dark Souls bosses in a game not designed for it, like a proper Shinobi I'll do whatever means to get the job done :wow:
:SMH: He's extremely tough initially but once you figure him out he's not too bad and a lot of fun to fight imo. Probably my favorite boss in the game cause it forces you to use so much of your mobility.
