I played both DS1 and DS3 (well, I started with the Twinblades, then graduated to Katanas) exclusively with Katanas. I ran backwards through Blighttown at the very beginning of DS1 just so I could get Iaito ASAP. This game is gonna be right up my alley.
How is the movement and combat
@Mowgli? Is it fast? Nioh/BB fast, or kinda DS3 fast?
Parrying is not rasor sharp so you have to parrry with somewhat real timing
It's not a game where the blade can be on your eyebrow and you one frame a block and get the parry. I recall being pissed a few times off parties I felt I nailed at the last second.
Character can traverse land pretty quickly because of the grapple hook which is very responsive
I did a test where I jumped off a roof and just before I hit the ground used the grapple hook on anledge below the roof. As I got a little air i switched to the roof before I was locked onto the middle ledge and I flew up there .
I think people will get pretty creative on the samurai parry counter and walk off kills with this game. It's pretty responsive.
You will kill most ebemies with parry not their life guage.
I havnt seen a head get chopped off yet so dismemberment seems to be out...
Remember your character can swim and the water is an option . Not like dark souls where u drown and die and even in water character moves fast and slashes
