:stopitslime: you know good and well Kobe's career numbers were hurt by the fact he spent those two years on the bench and the fact he had to share the ball with Shaq for half his career

these are Kobe's numbers POST-SHAQ

2005-2012 Regular Season (600 games)

28.8 PPG (45 FG%, 34 3FG%, 84 FT%)
5.5 RPG
5.0 APG
55.9 TS%

2006-2012 Playoffs (96 games)

29.1 PPG (46 FG%, 35 3FG%, 84 FT%)
5.4 RPG
5.2 APG
56.4 TS%

So that's 29/5/5 both in the regular season and post-season on roughly 56% True Shooting% (which combines 2fg%, 3fg%, and ft% for those who don't know).

To see how impressive this is just compare it to Jordan's career totals. Jordan had a career regular season average of 30/6/5 on 56.9 TS%. And a post-season average of 33/6/6 on 56.8 TS%. I think Kobe's regular season 29/5/5 on 55.9 TS% and post-season 29/5/5 on 56.4 TS% compares favorably.

I'm not saying Kobe is better statistically than Jordan. I'm simply saying that the comparison is alot closer than the career averages indicate because Jordan was the #1 option his entire career while Kobe only became the number option after 05 when Shaq left.

your right..his first couple of years kobe sucked...dude was resting on the bench..i give you that

Kobe is not even the greatest laker.

Wilt Chamberlain
Most games with 50+ points, 118; Most consecutive games with 40+ points, 14; Most consecutive games with 30+ points: 65; Most consecutive games with 20+ points: 126; Highest rookie scoring average: 37.6 ppg; Highest field goal percentage in a season: .727

Most of that shyt happened when Wilt was in Philly. Kobe is the all-time leading scorer in Lakers history fool. Only Lakers that can be compared to Kobe right now is Magic. And Kobe is one ring away from clearly surpassing Magic.

still doesn't change the fact that post-Shaq Kobe's numbers are as good as Jordan's career averages.

And most of these numbers from when Kobe was ages 27-33, so it was at the tail end of his prime.

Imagine if Kobe didn't play with Shaq from ages 21-27. He would've had about 3-4 seasons like 2006 when he put up 35/5/5. Kobe at age 22 with Shaq in 2001 was averaging 29ppg. If he didn't play with Shaq, I think we might have seen him average 40ppg for a season.

Ya'll nikkas should be glad Kobe's talent was hidden away in the early 2000s by Shaq. If Kobe had his own team back then, he woulda already be past Jordan on the all-time scoring list by now.

Those things didn't happen when he was a Laker. He came to LA in the twilight of his career. So posting this as leverage on your claim that he was a greater Laker is null and void.

yep. it's a shame Kobe ain't get his own team from jump. look at this.

Kobe's first 5 years starting vs LeBron's first 5 years starting

20ppg (1999) vs. 21ppg (2003)
23ppg (2000) vs. 27ppg (2004)
29ppg (2001) vs. 31ppg (2005)
26ppg (2002) vs. 27ppg (2006)
30ppg (2003) vs. 30ppg (2007)

That's how nasty Kobe was. Despite being second fiddle to Shaq, his production for the most part, is equal to LeBron's when LeBron was the first option. :ooh: Imagine if Kobe had his OWN squad. nikka would've averaged 35 a year for atleast 4 seasons.

Pick your poison. If he didnt have Shaq he dont get those rings but avgs more. :just saying:

:rudy: you think Mitch & Stern would've let the Lakers lose that long? Kevin Garnett would've ended up in purple or gold for a 2nd rounder & a box of Pepperoni Hot Pockets. :lolbron:

Are you serious?

Fact: Kobe is the 2nd greatest SG since Mike. Numbers don't lie.

You clowns don't appreciate greatness when you see it. You take Kobe for granted b/c he's always on TV all the time.

But wait until he's gone, there'll be nobody else in the league like him. All you'll have is Lebron, and while he's great, he doesnt have that same mindset like Kobe/MJ
