Wilt played in an era where majority of the players were white and 5'11. Try again.

Your reasoning is dumb as hell though, just like others have said circumstances is everything. He played behind veterans his rookie years then had to share the ball with shaq,of course his ppg will be down.

You only have to look at this CURRENT season to see that if kobe was given free reign from the beginning his ppg would be much higher considering that he almost won the scoring title in his 16th year.

You really can't think this is a valid argument but wait you do....:scusthov:

You couldnt even do that against 3rd graders cmon son.
So iguess Chamberlain didnt play against:
Wes Unseld
Bill Russell
Abdul-Jabar
Elvin Hayes
Willis Reed
Dave Cowens

All HOF centers by the way.:lolbron:

LOL @ dudes tryin to have a serious discussion with this guy

Whats wrong with stating that guys have been putting up Kobe numbers?? I only named guards because they play the same postion. It not fair for name centers/fowards because they are going to have better numbers. i.e.

Oscar Robertson....:pachaha:

:what:

Half of those dudes would be scrubs in this era.

You honestly believe Wilt would put up those type of numbers in this era?

Do you believe Kobe would put up those numbers in Magic/Bird/Jordan era where hand checking was legal?? Jordan was roughed up before he even touched the ball. :mjpls:

rings are team accomplishments

but 25 4 5 are okay numbers

:stopitslime: you know good and well Kobe's career numbers were hurt by the fact he spent those two years on the bench and the fact he had to share the ball with Shaq for half his career

these are Kobe's numbers POST-SHAQ

2005-2012 Regular Season (600 games)

28.8 PPG (45 FG%, 34 3FG%, 84 FT%)
5.5 RPG
5.0 APG
55.9 TS%

2006-2012 Playoffs (96 games)

29.1 PPG (46 FG%, 35 3FG%, 84 FT%)
5.4 RPG
5.2 APG
56.4 TS%

So that's 29/5/5 both in the regular season and post-season on roughly 56% True Shooting% (which combines 2fg%, 3fg%, and ft% for those who don't know).

To see how impressive this is just compare it to Jordan's career totals. Jordan had a career regular season average of 30/6/5 on 56.9 TS%. And a post-season average of 33/6/6 on 56.8 TS%. I think Kobe's regular season 29/5/5 on 55.9 TS% and post-season 29/5/5 on 56.4 TS% compares favorably.

I'm not saying Kobe is better statistically than Jordan. I'm simply saying that the comparison is alot closer than the career averages indicate because Jordan was the #1 option his entire career while Kobe only became the number option after 05 when Shaq left.

Hand checking was legal in 03.

The year Kobe had 9 consecutive 40 point games. :what:

Teams were scoring a 120 points a night. Kobe's numbers would have been better back then.
