It’s just kind of irrelevant to bring up the doll’s personality when we don’t know how it’s gonna come off.

I don’t think they’re gonna have the doll act too robotic. It’s the 21st century, and it’s a movie, so tech is gonna be high class.

Regardless of how it comes off, and it may be fantastic, as a robot it's not gonna be the same contrast as a voodoo practicing homicidal psychopath in a child's toy. They're taking away the very essence of the character's "charm" and intrigue. So you should be able to understand where the skepticism comes from, even if you are being optimistic.
