in the event you find out that the skulls have been disguising themselves as marvel heroes for a long time and the heroes never knew.

What makes you think they won't screw up Doom as well? Because he's white?

Because Marvel is lost and doesn't know what they're doing anymore. So until they figure it out they need to slow down the villain reveals.

And the Skrulls look goofy. They should have changed their appearance to be more menacing if they were going to go with them as their chief villains.

I'm lowering my expectations. They adopt storylines in name only now, they don't even have the main characters for this story.
