didn't Auburn lose to Florida State in the BCS title game just a year earlier? how exactly did the playoff start to expose us?

its not like they put 2 SEC teams in the bcs title game every year. SEC teams beat your Ohio State buckeyes in consecutive years in the title game (and beat them decisively I might add). they beat big 12 teams (Texas and Oklahoma). they beat Pac 12 teams (Oregon). They beat ACC teams (Florida State).

playoffs changed nothing. all it did was add an extra game that will make it harder for EVERYONE to put together a 7 year streak like that again. but it doesn't change anything when it comes to conference supremacy. SEC is still top to bottom the most dominant conference in college football (by far).

its almost always been like that. even with the 7 year streak, outside of a few games against Ohio State, most of the championship games were competitive. USC in the mid-00s was better than every team in the SEC. Oklahoma and Texas were as good as the best SEC teams for a long time. same with Miami in its heyday and Florida State. the SEC was never the best conference simply because the reigning national champ resided there, what separates the SEC from other conferences is DEPTH.

we have MORE elite/good teams than everyone else and less mediocre/bad teams. while every other conference might have 1-2 legit national title contenders, the SEC has 4-5. its that DEPTH of elite talent that makes us the best.

I'll actually co-sign this. There is no doubt Ohio State was the best team last year. They were definitely better than Alabama. The gap wasn't huge, but it was clear.

This year, however, is a new year.
