the problem with boardwalk empire is u got too many actors on there who have legit movie careers (buscemi, m. shannon, m k williams, etc). HBO ain't gonna pay them nearly what they'd make doing feature films. this plus the fact that this show has to cost an absolute fortune to produce due to the costumes, sets, cars, etc. so much shyt goes into making shows that are period pieces.

the ending to season 1 was the pending jimmy vs nucky war

they shouldve slow-played that hand but it was still good to great even tho it was rushed

its basically been the same shyt every season: nucky starts off the season good, someone tries to rise against him, he gathers the troops and defeats them

season 1: delessio bros
season 2: jimmy
season 3: gyp rosseti
season 4: dr narcisse

they should just go inglorious b*stards and deviate from history... it takes away too much from the suspense when you know how most the main characters gonna turn out

they shouldve had season 2 and 3 switched. nucky was new to the game so a guy like gyp rosetti would have been a good first villain and could take advantage of nuckys inexperience in the gangster world, plus an extra season of jimmy/richard doing work. then throughout the season you allude to jimmy not liking his position with nucky and having him try to take over in season 3. the creator having problems with michael pitt has to be the reason why he was gone so early because apparently they were gonna have jimmy move to new york originally but decided against it.

That's the same shyt I said, in the season 3 thread.

It's indicative of the whole series really. I know Nucky is modeled after a real life person, but it's hustling backwards to be the Treasurer of Atlantic City, then turn into a gangster. Gangsters try to go legit, or at least appear to go legit. Most of them would give their left nut to be in Nucky's position in season 1, which was basically white collar crime on the fringes of some street level shyt.

Honestly, in 2014, I don't feel the need for any show to go on longer than 4-5 seasons max. It just gets stale, and there's so many interesting new shows popping up every season.

I'm a huge BE fan, and aside from a sloppy season 3, I've found the series as a whole to be excellent and mad entertaining. I can't see the Nucky storyline going much further, better to wrap it up with a bow and end on a good note.

I'd like to see the Valentine massacre as well, but that isn't really involving "the boardwalk" is it? Seems better suited for a spin-off or new series altogether

There isn't a main character, but Nucky was kind of the linchpin of the whole series. Every season you see cats asking for more of NY, or Chi, or Chalky, seemingly missing that they were important to the story through their interactions with Nucky. Expecting the show to be an Encyclopedia Mafioso was always gonna lead to these reactions. That said, there's a ton of material from that time period for other series in the future, but I wouldn't expect any connections to Boardwalk Empire.

Couldn't stand Narcisse and Chalky c00nin' it up in season 4. You got one talking about uplifting his people meanwhile selling poison to them. Other risks his life just so he can gain enough leverage to be able to open a club shuckin' and jivin' strictly for cacs. Both them muthafukcas gotta go
