I forgot which year it was but it was when Rock returned, Punk was WWE champion and Bryan was World champion (before 18 seconds). Bryan and Punk already didn't like each other and Rock didn't like either of them. I remember thinking that Rock vs. Bryan vs. Punk could main event at Mania and book it similar to how Benoit vs. Angle vs. Jericho was booked at Wrestlemania 16 with both titles being on the line in 2 separate falls. Instead, they dropped a lot of it, Bryan and Rock didn't interact again, and Rock vs. Punk/Rock vs. Cena II was the plan instead. Everything was perfectly set up for the triple threat though (at least a triple threat).
Apparently this segment was after Bryan lost the belt, yet he was still in the main event scene. Still, they could have done the triple threat for the Mania of that year.
I remember thinking the entire point of the segment was to set up the triple threat but instead it was for Bryan to take the fall.
Also, the fact that Bryan vs. Punk never happened at Mania was straight up ridiculous. Bryan and Punk vs. HHH and HBK was set up too. At least on air it was, during that big fight. I'll never forget how much they didn't capitalize on this:
