Good point. Hoke and Mack stay signing early classes. The top 8 teams on there have 11+ recruits already. Teams like Auburn, USC and FSU will make up tons of ground by the end of the year.

scUM is doin the same thing as last year. Get the not-so top tier of good recruits and stack up a bunch of commitments early. OSU, FSU, Alabama, Texas, etc. will get the absolute best later in the season and will leap frog scUM by the end of the recruiting season, when these rankings actually matter a little bit.

I wouldn't hold much stock in that. Wisconsin and State have recruited in the bottom half of the B1G the past 4 years, but have been 2 of the most consistent in those same years. Talents definitely helps, but coaching and being able to scout well are also major factors in success. The ability to coach players up and find diamonds in the rough is also a great talent, and almost as important as being able to draw elite talent. I know it's pom pom waving time for a lot of folks, but I don't really get into that, just pointing out some truths.

It seems as if these rankings in football dont mean nearly as much as basketball where theyres only a handful of really good players and the top guys are usually the best..

Plenty of three and four star guys become stars in football..

I mean Clemson has been near the top of the recruiting list for a number of years
