Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony's Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc has just confirmed that, like for PS3 games, PSN titles won't be transferrable to the PlayStation 4.

I dont understand why it's not at least ps1/ps2 BC , PS3 was a mistake of a design i can forgive them for that.. but in 2019 trying to buy a new ps3 is going to be a bytch.

Is there any indication that it won't (at least at some point) be PS1 and PS2 BC? PS1 BC via emulation should be trivial at this point. Esp for an x86 CPU. PS2 BC via emulation should be plenty possible too in my opinion. Just may not be available day 1 since someone has to actually write the emulator.

well, they said at the conference that they're trying to achieve full catalog BC through streaming and that the PS3 catalog .. maybe down the road. I dont think a lot of it will be available day one, but from what it sounds like their will not be native BC in the system at all. PS2 or PS1 BC would even be fine as a software solution IMO

The Cell processor is not x86 architecture. Obviously nothing designed for the cell is gonna work on a PS4. If you have a PS3 problem solved. You can already access your content.

Whenever the PS4 releases all PS3s will not be decommissioned. Just continue playing your shyt on the Ps3, hell we all know Sony will probably support the ps3 for another 2-3 years anyway.
