they’re not worried about an attack from abroad; it’s the threat of instability from within that frightens them. look, point blank - no matter the outcome of the election, the result will be a level of civil unrest we’ve never seen.

if trump is elected, there is a critical mass of people opposed to him that will actively resist his presidency. trump and his team already anticipate that, hence the plans for invoking the insurrection act.

if biden is elected, trump is facing prison, a term that might very well see him spend the rest of his life behind bars. as he’s done for the paat 8 years, he will rile up his base, encouraging acts of violence. but, this time, it won’t simply be him facing an existential threat; his loss will be seen as a call of arms for white americans (and non-white sympathizers with american fascism), god fearing patriots to whom trump will entrust the task of rescuing this nation from the godless, socialist heathens.
