I have shyt on Drake for the same shyt and got shytted on by some of the same people who say he's a vulture now. I don't hate Kendrick. I hate what surrounds him. I've never seen a rapper who got p*ssyfooted and babied the way Kendrick has. I dare u to show me 3 negative mainstream media Kendrick related articles about him or his music. Every artist has this even Michael Jackson. But not Kendrick. shyt is annoying af.

I guess you ignored his last album where he was accused of being transphobic and got the worst reviews of his career, or 2020 when internet activists were slamming him (and Cole) for allegedly not caring about the social climate of that year, or when feminists attacked him for daring to say he likes natural bodies/stretch marks in Humble, or when he got shat on for Blacker The Berry, or the Mike Brown stuff, etc.

If you want to say he gets less criticism I guess that's worth discussing, but saying he gets none is wild. I think a major reason he stays clean is because he releases music and disappears. Rarely does interviews, doesn't use social media, is not accessible. I'm just tired of the idea he's somehow treated with kids gloves or given grace others don't get. All that man does is drop dope albums (besides the last one), tour, and disappear lmao. Compared to say...Cole opening himself up for all types of attacks at various times over the years with his interviews or statements. Or compared to Drake being a cornball who does weird shyt all the time. The only rapper I've seen navigate media (interviews, social media, etc) without ever getting attacked is Vince Staples. If you're gonna play that game you're gonna get attacked unless you just avoid saying/doing dumb shyt. And Vince is a master at avoiding saying/doing dumb shyt.

Matter fact @spliz, Kendrick got hate for the R Kelly shyt. When nikkas thought he was defending R. Kelly, the media was going at his head. You wanted hate, there's your hate.

This thread is a fukkin joke, and was never meant for serious hip hop discussing
It was never meant for Hip hop discussing cause u nikkas would rather dikkride and tell jokes than discuss hip hop. The OP in this thread posted bars and broke them shyts down and only thing yall nikkas did was give smileys, jokes, and try to dismiss son. Yea. This def wasn't meant for serious hip hop discussing and it's cause of yall nikkas. I ain't seen NOONE else in this thread post bars to bring across their point.

Only time I seen Kendrick get legit criticism was the Mike Brown shyt. And Interscope told that nikka to stop doing interviews on that subject matter and he dropped TPAB and nikkas went right back to acting like the nikka was a Jesus resurrected on wax. Lol.

Nas has always battled hate from the media since IWW. There's no fukkin comparison. To even act like there is is a fukkin joke. Even @Piff Perkins has posted on the unfair hate Nas has gotten from the media.

The premise was Cole bad the best verse THIS YEAR. And then that reasoning was used to say he’s a better rapper than kendrick OVERALL. Trying to center one song for Cole as the end all be all for an argument, just means that minds weren’t gonna be changed either way. The medthedology was perfectly crafted to give Cole a victory in the midst of the hoopla between Kendrick and Drake. Dishonest thread.

I don't think these are fair comparisons though. Yes I think Nas has been treated unfairly and there have been multiple examples of what we might call Nas erasure: deliberate agendas to write him out of specific eras or moments in order to elevate other artists. I know you saw that recent thread about Hov claiming him and Big were the hottest rappers in 96 lol.

But even I as a Nas stan will admit some of his struggles with media are his fault. He was known for giving bad, often combative interviews. He's somewhat stand off-ish and it has turned people off. He's burned bridges for weird, dumb reasons (Kay Slay comes to mind). He's made some terrible career decisions at times that angered fans. Anthony Saleh, who is ironically also Kendrick's manager, has talked before about how he had to mend relationships with promoters and venues in order to get Nas back on the road touring.

One comparison I'd make is that people got short memories about Kendrick, like they do with certain Nas shyt. Because I sure as fukk remember when Elliott Wilson, Bdot, and MTV regularly dismissed Kendrick in favor of Drake. I remember when certain members of rap media were clowning TPAB, especially once IYRTITL came out later that year. The entire crux of Kendrick singling out Elliott Wilson at Summer Jam during the "and a rapper with a ghost writer, what the fukk happened" bar was because of how much bullshyt he was facing at the time. I don't think DAMN was a coincidence either, Kendrick clearly wanted to shut certain people up. Perceptions are different now but let's be real...at one point a LOT of people thought Kendrick was gonna be doing a GKMC 2 album in a few years while touring House Of Blues venues. MOST of the subs Drake was sending at the time basically boiled down to "yea nikka where will you be in ten years." Well now we know...

One more Nas thing...I think there was way more division amongst Nas fans then there was amongst Kendrick (or Cole) fans. Kendrick hasn't dealt with a decade of "I want the old Kendrick back" griping like Nas faces with each album, whether it's dope or not. Cole has unquestionably gotten better year to year so he doesn't deal with that either. But there will always be a war going on amongst Nas fans about new music, old music, what producers he should work with, when is Lost Tapes 2/3/4 coming out, etc.
