Both started out on ESPN by providing local coverage than they moved up the ranks.

They seem like they need content with those terrible ass shows they got.
Its the wave of the future now though, each professional league will have its own 24/7 station with reporters and pushing their own agenda and getting that money directly on top of selling rights

ESPN will probably be dropping some content contracts going forward, so baseball might get a reduced role with them; which will probably help the MLB network pick up some more games. What MLB really needs is for the Cubs, Yankees, Dodgers, Nationals, Mets and Red Sox to always be good; or they will have a hard time drawing viewers.
