Unless there's a game, I literally never watch ESPN now.

The personalities were good when it was a small part of the overall presentation.
Craig Kilborn and Stuart Scott were just naturally allowing their personalities to shine thru in their broadcasts. But it was never a forced gimmick the way it is with the screaming SAS or the pugnacious Skip Bayless.
When you watched ESPN, you just wanted the highlights.

Now ESPN is just the Cable News of sports, which is to say opinion shows and Cola Wars (I think X team is better. I think Y team is better. Thank you, that's all the time we have. See you next time)

:scust:

That's the downfall of their product.
But that's not the reason for the cuts. They just negotiated terrible contracts with the NFL and NBA.
ESPN will survive and will probably renegotiate better contracts in the future. But it'll never be a particularly "watchable" channel.

Not to me, anyway.

How long has it been since that NFL CTE fukkery where they acted brand new towards PBS once the NFL told them to fall back on that honest journalism shyt?

That was the last time i ever watched an espn show or visited their website, outside of watching NBA (playoff) games that i couldn't catch on league pass.

But now with how much better reddit streams are + league pass on the computer + netflix... i straight up cut my cable last summer and haven't looked back.

In truth, it got to the point where there really was no appeal in watching a nationally telecast NBA game (ESPN or TNT) over a local broadcast b/c outside of JVG and Mark Jackson, the personalities aren't anything special.

And i find more fukkery in hearin people on this msg board give their post game analysis and post embedded twitter/ig links than i do tuning in to some morning radio show or first take.
