All it takes is for the NFL and NBA to do their own Streaming Service, and it's a wrap for ESPN itself.

The layoffs sucks obviously, but this is just a part of a big issue in that ESPN is just bleeding money with little return.
Nah they don't really wanna do the streaming thing
There is much more money to be made in selling the broadcasting rights for those leagues than actually running the broadcasts themselves

Can disney sell ESPN to NBC, or CBS for like 10 billy. The mouse is fukking up

If Disney ever decided to sell off ESPN, Apple or Amazon would buy it imo. Definitely would strengthen their steaming services and their media presence overall. Don’t see a traditional media company buying ESPN.

If that was the case, then he would have already jumped ship by now. His schtick just doesn’t carry over outside of the sports world and the talk show route just isn’t viable anymore.

he has a signed contract you just can't jump ship like that and go work for another corporation

that stephen a cam interview almost had a million views. Stephen A is a star and will eat wherever he goes

Shannon just showed that it was possible to do a buyout and ESPN showed that the contract you signed means nothing in the grand scheme of things as they can still lay you off. Even Key had 3 years left on his deal, yet they still tossed him to the bushes.

SAS at this point is just throwing shyt at the wall and hoping that it sticks. Don’t forget that his Disney+ show flopped and his podcast before the name change flopped as well hence his change in format.

Shannon did not willingly strike out on his own. He had disagreements with Skip :comeon:
And? He could have still stayed at FS1 instead of leaving since he had years left on his contract. He gave up bread in the buyout and got to take Club Shay Shay with him in the process. I doubt FS1 would have let him take it with him otherwise since it was under their umbrella.

He did them a favor by taking the buyout and helping them save money in the process instead of them having to pay him the remainder of what was left on his deal.

SAS is ESPN, has plenty of value outside of ESPN
The thing is he was outside of ESPN for a bit and he eventually came back.

One thing I noticed is when your outside of the bubble you have to hustle a bit more and not everybody has that type of drive.

some cats would rather make little less, have less creative control, etc: for a guaranteed set check.

The McAfee move has disaster written all over it. One of the main selling points of his show was it was on YouTube and he could say pretty much anything he wanted. Now I’m seeing a bunch of his loyal followers calling him a sellout and shifting on him at every opportunity.

He like Rogan also appeal heavily to the young MAGA crowd so taking the show to “woke” Disney seems dumb as hell to me.

Max was cool dude was the og around the horn host

I remember when Reali took over because Kellerman and ESPN had a dispute over a new contract. In retrospect probably wasn’t the smartest move on Max’s part because Reali is set for as long as he wants to host ATH. But, he bounced back well from that.
