i mean even Eazy E's death propelled him a bit and this dude was wack!
eazy's legacy didnt benefit from his death at all.
i remember during the period of time after bone & the west coast fell off and before game came out, eazy wasnt even getting any shoutouts. it was that stigma surrounding the aids or "aids" thing.
pac & big were the 1st rappers to get immortalized after death. and that started a domino effect.

well he did retire in 2003 with a hot album.
untimely deaths tend to immortalize people.
He would have been praised endlessly as being the realest rapper ever. And the most grimiest. Him dropping two number one albums in the same year would have been glorified and used as proof of his greatness.

If your point is that he's sold more since he died then he was when he was alive...
He's been dead for 16 years..His entire recording career while living was less than 5 years....

When Pac was alive, he wasn't the best selling rapper of all time. After his death, his record sells increased tremedously and his legacy reached Mt.Olympic God status. If DMX had died at the time of his prime, he could have been a big icon like Big and Pac. X was running the show with three straight hot albums before the Great Depression between 98-02, and was selling units like hotcakes.
