As a songwriter, yes...and if he produces his own stuff, then that too. But he need not be the one singing

He's fine as a vocalist/singer. Sounds better than a lot of these dudes who are harmonizing and fake singing (PnD, Tiller etc)

And his shyt live sounds pretty close to how it sounds on the studio records. I'm not calling the nikka Usher or R. Kelly or no shyt like that, but to say he he's trash singing is just hating.

I get exactly what OP is saying, I just think some of ya'll got hung up on the word "gimmick" and perceived that as him hating. I think a better word for OP to use might have been "schtick" or "persona". It's like when Kanye first came out, in all his videos he'd never look into the camera (still really doesn't), or Ghostface with the mask, Method with the Shaquille Sunflower braids and white contact lense. Everybody got something they're known for and for DRAM its the "opposite of Ice Cube" face

p.s. a DRAM and Ice Cube staring contest would be legendary, Jimmy Fallon needs to set that up! lol

Another thing I noticed, D.R.A.M. and Post Malone give off the same exact type of vibe on first impression. That would be interesting if it wasn't authentic.
