I really want the Yankees to win #28 this year.

NYC hasn't had a championship team in 7 years (Giants won Super Bowl 46 in 2012). In that span: Boston sports teams have won 5 titles (3 by the Patriots, 2 by the Red Sox), the Cubs finally won a WS after 108 years, the Astros won their first ever WS title, the Washington Capitals & St. Louis Blues won their 1st Stanley Cup titles in franchise history.

Outside of the Yankees, NYC sports teams aren't going anywhere for now. The Giants aren't winning a Super Bowl for now, the Jets - LOL, the Knicks - LOL, the Nets aren't going to win a title even with KD & Kyrie and NYC doesn't really care about the Nets, the Rangers don't seem like they're title contenders but maybe they will be in the next couple years, the Mets - LOL. I don't count or care about the NJ Devils or NY Islanders.

If you remove the Yankees & Giants, the last NYC sports team to win a championship is the 1994 NY Rangers. That's pathetic.

If you remove the Yankees & Giants, the last NYC sports team to win a championship is the 1986 Mets. That's pathetic.
