I've seen it said on here a couple times that WWE is becoming NXT for Hollywood, and honestly, I think you'd be a fool to go in as a wrestler and not look at it like that. Well, maybe not a fool because the business does need people who just want to work in wrestling. However, WWE is in the unique position of being the bottom rung of the entertainment ladder while also being a huge potential springboard into other things. You have to consider it at least an option for later as your career winds down or you just want to do other things.
The ironic thing is, though, that even getting to the level where making the switch is a viable option requires you actually be a good wrestler and put in work getting to the top of the field. Rock, Cena, and Batista are all greats with the former two regularly showing up in the conversation of all time GOAT,* and even with all that they had to grind it out and work their way up to bigger and better roles. People who come in purely to use WWE to get to something else tend to not get that far.
It would be interesting to see if Sasha decides to keep going with the acting thing because we haven't really had a big female star cross over yet. (Closest was probably Chyna, but that never went anywhere and unfortunately her entire life took a bad turn.) Starting in a hot show like The Mandalorian is a big deal and better than most WWE stars get. Especially since she seems to be playing a decent role and perhaps just not a one off appearance. No telling where she could go if she manages to make an impression.
*Not to say Batista doesn't get mentioned in those conversations. He just doesn't come up nearly as much as the other two.
What memorable roles does cena have? Ferdinand? The Suicide Squad is like the only project involving him that I'm actually hyped for.
None. lol Cena is still much in the early phase of his Hollywood career. He doesn't have any major roles under his belt, so he's not a proven name like Rock or Batista. He's still trading on his WWE fame, which is why he hasn't completely broken off from the company yet. The Suicide Squad is his biggest project to date aside from Bumblebee, and who knows how that is going to work out for him. It's very likely he's going to get killed off because it's Suicide Squad lol.
Nonetheless, he has been getting consistent work in Hollywood in recent years, so people must believe in the guy. He just hasn't had that one memorable role yet.
