It wouldn't need to be a pantheon just someone who's a threat to Atreus
Yeah I could see Atreus setting something off in his journey that ropes Kratos in. Probably the best way to do it instead of having Kratos stepping on toes again.

@Ironman :pacspit: fukk Atreus and you and his stans
Kratos for next god of war game or bust
:mjtf:Da fukk? I ain't no Atreus stan the conversation was just about how Atreus would've worked in a later game. For all we know the next God of War is just about Kratos on his next adventure anyway fukk outta here before I turn your block into a crater for laughs:ufdup:

that's the problem tbh

more people would rather see Atreus laid out to bring the old Kratos back than see Atreus overcome adversity or challenges to continue his own development

and if they force a timeskip on atreus to make him more hardened (pause) or something, then it wouldn't feel earned either

Atreus’ entire purpose in the series is to center Kratos. The reboot was his redemption arc for bodying an entire pantheon of gods and laying waste to Athens.

If they use the plot device that revolved around Kratos reforming himself and turning him into Kratos 2.0 or having Kratos regress back to his old way the past two games kind of fall apart.

What they could do and should have done is build up the idea of Loki being an actual trickster god, that while he is good intentioned goes by unconventional and devious means to maintain peace and order. They went too hard in “mama’s special little guy” route and killed that aspect of his development

Atreus being hardened beats the whole point of both his AND kratos' arc in these new games too.
