all I remember is that vote in congress failing. I'm not a gun owner so I really haven't followed it state-by-state.

As Congress( some) support the 2nd amendments...the major cities of the states are banning them right and left. Chicago has a strict gun law on the books and non of the citizens can get guns without going through crazy hoops to get it and look at the murder rate there.
