The TL is one of the only places you'll ever really see any amount of black people in sf these days, and i don't mean this in a good way. There's still a handful in Bayview too, from what I've seen. The Fillmore is washed at this point though.

I've done alot of research on black san Francisco and I've researched western addition, filmore(Uptown Filmoe) hunters point, etc. And I had no idea about the herman plaza. This is all good info. I do notice that the pic above of brothers in law bbq was featured in Dre Dog's "The Ave" music vid. This makes me wanna research black sf even more. It's a shame that we can only look at photos of what could've been and used to be a premier black district on the west coast.

Makes me sick to my stomach that some 24 year old cac moves into a black neighborhood because it’s edgy and trendy, but in 7 years the black family who has been there for generations will have to move to the outskirts because they drove the price up on the land and taxes

I believe Central Park in NYC used to be a Black neighborhood.

Firstly to own a property you need to take out a mortgage on a property that freehold and not a leasehold and i suspected that quite a number of black people were sold leasehold properties that might have not been in the best of conditions
Secondly you need to be aware about predatory loans or mortgages that were handed out with rising interest rates and late payment fees
Thirdly you still need to pay taxes,insurance and other expenses on the property and thus such expenses do tend to rise and what if you have nothing to fall back on and the roof needs to be fixed and falling behind on property taxes can accumulate a lot of debt
So its a case of taking out more and more loans and using the house as equity so that the lenders have a chance to seize back the properties and to either let the property sit or sell it off to developers
You see in how black homeowners had to quickly sell their properties for a fraction to dodgy companies despite the property being located in gentrification hotspots and how property ownership can be risky business.

No need to insult me but I was just giving a brief history about how predatory loans had caused declining rates of black home ownership and businesses throughout the country.
I was just gviving an example or a reality on how they can kick you out of your neighborhood without getting their hands dirty
