Dileep L: Hi, thank you for reaching out to Samsung Technical Support. How may I assist you?

VBM: I had a question about the Galaxy Note 7 recall.

Dileep L: Hello VBM!

VBM: How will the replacement process work if I purchased the phone from Best Buy rather than from the carrier directly.

Dileep L: The recent reports regarding battery issues related to the Galaxy Note 7 are isolated and rare. Samsung has reported a small number of incidents and takes product and customer safety very seriously. We are conducting a thorough analysis of the affected devices and will provide additional information as soon as it is available.

Dileep L: We certainly don't want our customers going through anything like this and doubt the genuinity of this Note.

Dileep L: Considering the seriousness of this situation, we are trying to come up with a feasible solution at the earliest possible, to address this issue and it will be published on the Samsung official website.

Dileep L: It might take a little while for us to investigate the root causes so that we can come up with a decision appreciable to all our customers.

Dileep L: We want to continue the same promising service going forward and I request you to rest assured in the mean time.

Dileep L: The phones are not being recalled at this moment and I would like to let you know that you can continue to use your Note 7 with confidence.

Dileep L: Not to worry, the issue is not reported with US versions as US versions come with Snapdragon processor which is different from International versions.

Dileep L: However, Samsung is conducting a thorough analysis of the affected devices and will provide additional information as soon as it is available.

Dileep L: I have to inform you that Samsung is still reviewing the US version Phones and the devices will be recall if the US version Phones are found to be defective.

VBM: Lots of reports of the recall already being confirmed. That why I reached out.

Dileep L: Samsung officialyy did not declare the recall VBM, @blast announce.

Dileep L: Sorry for the statement.

Dileep L: It will be updated on the official Samsung page once it is officially announced.

:duck:
I got mine at Best Buy too. I would expect Samsung to partner with them and allow an in store exchange. I think I'll do it. Why take the chance of this thing exploding?

Are you not going to exchange your phone at all? I'm sure those 30 or so people didn't see their phone blowing up either. With a recall issued I definitely would exchange mine. No need to take a chance.
When ATT restocks, if they let me take it to the store and get a new one I might do that...

I will not be mailing my phone in and waiting for a replacement...

So, Samsung will have to eat the cost of "close to a million" phones due to replacing them with new units? Fail.

Wrong. The majority of the cost will be recouped on the older returned Note 7's with Samsung refurbishing these units and reselling them on the booming refurbished smart phone market. Also keep in mind that not all of the Note 7's shipped back to Samsung based on the recall will need to have the batteries replaced as Samsung is able to test each unit to determine if the battery cells are faulty & most of these phones could also be sold as refurbished handsets which won't require Samsung any additional labor costs to repair/change the battery.

The recall impacts 100% of devices sold thus far. Fail.

False. Only a certain amount of the total Note 7 shipped to retailers not sold directly to customers are being shipped back for replacement The "recall" for the rest of Note 7's purchased by consumers is voluntary & thus, there will be a percentage of these customers who will still keep their phones & won't bother replacing them.

Furthermore per Business Week:

"There are a few small positives to be drawn from the mess: Relatively few Note 7 devices have actually been sold (annual sales tend to run toward 50 million units or more), and most of the damage is in Asia and not the West. And Samsung appears to have jumped out in front of the problem, recalling everything immediately, rather than going into denial or engaging in a clumsy cover-up. In the long run that may burnish Samsung's reputation for trustworthiness."

Conjecture and hypothetical statement - not admitted in the court of Coli..

The Note 7's prominence & appeal as the de jure premiere smartphone can't be diminished, nor will it's sales be. Fact not fiction!

Basically true, but irrelevant to Samsung's self-inflicted fail. If anything, it highlights the importance of this fail because Samsung was in a great position to close the gap on Apple. This failure is undoubtedly a setback in that regard.

What gap? :mjlol: Not only has Samsung closed the "gap" on Apple, it has now bypassed & crushed Apple in overall sales this year as Samsung is now the numero uno smartphone manufacturer in the world. Wrong Again!

Exploding phones less than a month after a release is a fail.
The 35 Note 7's impacted out of close to a million is insignificant & nothing but gloom & doom rhetoric by Apple groupies like yourself.

Having to stop sales on that phone is a fail, especially as the media shifts to the iPhone 7 release.
Sales are only temporary halted for a few weeks & the iPhone 7 release won't hinder the Note 7's overall sales growth. Again, much ado about nothing.

It will take a while to replace a million phones breh.
Wrong! T-Mobile will issue complete refunds for the Note 7, including any accessories purchased with the device. The company is also waiving any restocking or shipping fees during the exchange process. Visit your local T-Mobile store or call 1-800-937-8997 to initiate the process. T-Mobile expects to have replacement Note 7s "in the next two weeks," according to a statement published on its website.

Vast popularity of the note 7? 1 million shipped in a month. Globally. iPhone does 5-10 million in a weekend. So which is vastly popular? Only a million note 7s and that's with Samsung bribing mofos with sd cards, vr, and offering bogo. Lol

:usure: Wrong once more! based on Samsung's August 19 launch about 2.5 million Note 7's have been sold worldwide. Furthermore, Samsung is the king now & has trumped Apple as the top dog in overall smartphone sales.

How much is 0.1 % of one million?

:stopitslime: The 0.1% is based on the entire volume of Note 7's distributed thus far with bad batteries, not just the close to one million that have been sold to consumers.

"The worldwide recall, which comes the day after Samsung said it had delayed future shipments of the Note 7, affects around 2.5 million phones that had been distributed, including around 1 million sold."

"Also an anonymous official, speaking to Yonhap News, said: "Products installed with the problematic battery account for less than 0.1 percent of the entire volume sold".
