So I stopped by the AT&T store this morning to turn my GOAT phone in for a downgrade iphone7 plus...:francis:

Sitting there playing with my phone one last time while they bring out the iPhone and as soon as she comes back I refused it...Couldn't do it brehs...

The dude behind the counter then buds in telling me I know that feeling...Hes not turning his in either, says unless it runs hot or you're getting terrible battery life I would hold off on returning it till Samsung or CPSC confirms what the problem...Also said if it explodes you can always get your money back...
but you can't get a limb back...:mjcry:

So I walked out still with my discontinued GOAT phone cuz I'm bout dat gambling with ya limbs life...
Its a dead product. No updates unless they cripple functionality. No bug fixes. No security patches. Why bother? Its not like Samsung will support it.

This is my only concern holding onto the phone and I definitely would have returned it today if I paid full price for it...

But I didn't pay full price for it...The Note cost me $325 after AT&T gave me $25 back for the replacement...

I can afford to take this risk...

What I am really hoping for is a bootloader unlock so we can flash community updates...Maybe Samsung does us Note users that solid since they killed off the product...

The year 3030
did your ATT rep mention any close date? Mine said as of now it's open to exchange indefinitely...I'm still reluctant to exchange and hoping to hold on until the Note 8

No mention of a cut off...

She just put a note in my account that whatever phone I choose to exchange it for there will be no extra charges...

You can likely get what you paid back. It's not like the phone has any resell value. eBay and Swappa have or will ban it. People probably wouldn't wanna buy it anyway.

The only thing Samsung will do is annoying pop-ups and disable stuff like fast charging or limit the battery. They'll want to make it as inconvenient as possible for users to keep the phone.

His point is we dont know if it is a design flaw, manufacturing error or bad batch of batteries...Meaning if the issue isnt a design and your phone isn't showing any signs of trouble then your device is likely safe...

So why rush to take a downgrade if your phone isn't showing any signs of trouble? I will be taking the phone back if it ends up being a design flaw but till we know for sure I'm going to hold on to it...:yeshrug:

I feel you. The problem is nobody's phones have shown a discernible pattern/trait of exploding. That combined with Samsung washing their hands of the phone completely doesn't sound good. Hope all goes well for you breh.

Not interested in selling my phone so I really don't give a fukk what eBay does...

I bought this phone and chose to hold onto it today because I actually like the phone...

If Samsung wants to keep their customers and save face with us they'll unlock the damn bootloader...They fukked us over plenty already by discontinuing the phone so why keep the bootloader locked? You're not selling and likely not supporting the product anymore...

Plenty of posts on their forums demanding this already...They can set a cutoff date for full reimbursement and then release a firmware update that unlocks the bootloader for those of us who choose to take that risk...

They're trying to save face by saying you can exchange it for any other phone that exists for free. They are NOT going to make it easier to keep using this phone. There are 0 logical reasons.

Get an edge, and LG, wait for the Pixel, whatever. The manufacturer is taking a 20 billion + L by cancelling/recalling. It must be serious, and a risk to your safety.

I get that you like it fam, but Jesus Christ..... it's over.

They rarely unlock bootloaders for active phones. No chance they're going to do it this time to "save face" and have any more phones blow up. They want every single phone off the streets so they can put this behind them.

Ain't no limbs been lost over this phone man :pachaha:

The phones aren't "exploding" at all. The battery slowly expands & burns up the phone. That is hardly something that will cause you to lose a limb. Every picture that has been shown of a burned phone, the phone is still intact, just burned. Had there been any serious injuries because of this phone, I'm sure you would've heard about it by now. Don't believe the media hype breh.

Did you even care to Google?

iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program - Apple Support

iPhone 5 went through a brief recall for people that had a crappy battery experience

iPod nano Replacement Program - Apple Support

Ipod Nano went through a recall because of a safety risk for its battery, may overheat

If you said none if their recalls have been on this scale, you'd have a point, but Apple has been littered with recalls from every product line.
