INVADING SOHH CHAMPION
I read what you said Art Barr.
I know of Rza's flood. He lost Deck's solo album.
Did that not occur around 1994?
Rza used samples up to I believe 9th Diagrams.
More heavy up to Supreme Clientele.
It doesn't matter what "workflow" or "equipment" is used.
It's like some is either incorporating samples, or live instrumentation.
Necro said it best. Sampling IS an art.
Hip Hop is working samples. I don't think I ever liked live instruments in hip hop. Unless done right. 90 percent of the time it sounds too lite for me.
other than triple six.
They can keep that live instrument shyt for other genres.
as far as rza, and tip.
both are completely different from who they were before both. As they had to work up in a digital moving from.analog world. With out any full reference of their previous work and workflows. Plus not to mention how much atrophy anyone gets from time off. Especially time off caused by a shocking turn of pivotal events.
as tantamount as a fire or flood.
yes rza could have being rza ramped but he was never going to be the same without reference to what he had previously. Especially since he no longer would be able to review his work. Whether multi-tracking or just simple revision.
to eq a drum or two. It is natural given what occurred that we got what we got from rza
. We are lucky.
given what happened,...
we ever heard from tip or rza ever again. As those events could keep someone from ever making anything again. From the shock of that much immediate loss. Plus not being able to revisit passion inspired work. Luckily god literally repaired my hard drive by praying to him when i went through a similar loss of data scare. That if i ever tell the story from the windfall of god blessing me enough to listen. I hope people would gain faith in god a lot more.
as lord forbid, losing what tip and rza lost all the way. As i had to live in that space rza and tip did for a while before god helped me out. Yet intermittenly, while i endured whatever it was god fixed in my computer and hard drive three years after the fact. is why i am so focused and honed in god and faith.
hold ya head.
god has his mysterious reasons.
for us in the culture.
the lesson of the rza and rip fire and flood.
is a lesson every bboy and b-girl should know and survey.
to better themselves in unforseen adversity.
hiphop exists to make you prescient to the next.
from what another bboy and bgirl have endured.
