Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall has added an endorsement deal with pre-paid Visa card RushCard after being dropped by two sponsors for kneeling during the national anthem, according to ProFootballTalk.

The decision to kneel was a a sign of solidarity with 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who chose not to stand for the national anthem before preseason games to protest police violence and what he sees as racial inequality in America. Kapernick continues to protest and has been joined by several NFL players throughout the league in Week 1. Kaepernick has not lost any sponsorships.

Marshall was dropped by CenturyLink and Air Academy Credit Union after protesting before the Broncos opened the season against the Carolina Panthers.

The new deal with RushCard comes after a conversation with entertainment entrepreneur Russell Simmons.

“I spoke with Russell Simmons,” Marshall said. “They’re endorsing me, The Rush Card and he said he was going to speak with me today. I spoke with him the last two days. He’s going to talk to me today about the parameters of the deal, what it comes with. I lost two, but I gain one.”

Marshall also told reporters that he does not intend to kneel forever and will stand at a time that he believes is appropriate.

Texas Youth Football Team to Continue Protesting Anthem Despite Death Threats

Be a cac and make death threats against little kids man... :snoop:

The Beaumont Bulls, a youth football team in Beaumont, Texas, whose members are receiving death threats after following the lead of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in protesting the national anthem over America's treatment of "blacks and people of color," as Kaepernick explained to NFL Media, will continue their demonstration, according to the team's coach and the mother of one of the players.

April Parkerson, the mother of 11-year-old running back Jaelun Parkerson, confirmed to ABC News that players on the team have received threatening messages. She said the team's protest of the national anthem "will continue."

Rah Rah Barber, the team's coach, concurred with Parkerson, saying he never imagined the response to the team's actions would "get to this point." He said the threats have showed "how far behind we are as a society."

The attention surrounding the team's protest started last Saturday, when Barber, along with his coaching staff and team, kneeled and placed their hands on each other's shoulders in silence before the playing of the national anthem.

Parkerson described this summer as a "turning point" in her son's awareness of race and politics and said he first wanted to take action after videos of the police shooting deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were posted online.

"[Jaelun] asked me what we could do about it," Parkerson said. "So when news of Kaepernick's protest broke, a lightbulb went off. Then when Brandon Marshall joined in, he said, 'OK, we're going to do this.'"

Barber acknowledged Kaepernick as an influence
as well and said he became motivated to read up on the history of the national anthem.

He added that one of his players approached him with a photo of the protests of the anthem and told him that the team wanted to join it.

"I said to the team, 'Do you know what this means?'" Barber said. "And they said that they did. So I went to their parents for their approval."

Speaking on behalf of her son, who was in school, Parkerson said that the purpose of the protest was not to insult the military or police but to show solidarity with other protesters and to help bring attention to issues of racial injustice.

She said the youth football league's board of directors gave permission for the team to stage the demonstration.

Still, permission and expressions of support from many people haven't stopped some from sending death threats to the team.

Parkerson sent ABC News screen shots of some of the threats, which have mostly been made on social media from people living outside Beaumont.

One Facebook user from Oklahoma called for Barber to be lynched.:why:

"Hatred like that is everywhere," Parkerson said. "But there's also so much love."

Barber, who said he involves himself in youth football to keep kids off the streets, isn't fazed by the racist comments directed at him online.

"I ignore it," he said. "It's the kids I worry about. If they ever felt threatened, I would advise their parents to reach out to authorities."

ABC News contacted the Beaumont Police Department and the FBI to ask whether the threats against Bulls players and coaches are under investigation, but the calls were not immediately returned.

Parkerson, who is white and is married to a black man, said she and her son admire Kaepernick for what she described as the bravery he shows in taking a stand. She said her son, who is biracial like Kaepernick, felt inspired by him.

"Colin didn't have to take this subject on," she said. "But he decided to use the platform he had to speak up for people who have no voice."

Now they fukking with the Native American Students...:why:

A Native American high school student in California says a teacher lowered her and a friend's participation grades after they refused to stand up for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Leilani Thomas has been choosing not to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance since the second grade -- way before San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started doing the same during performances of the national anthem at games, ABC affiliate KXTV in Sacramento reported.

Thomas explained that she is Native American and that she has been sitting out the Pledge of Allegiance as a peaceful protest to the way Native Americans have been historically treated in the U.S.

"My dad and my mom brought up what [the pledge] meant to us and our people and what happened -- you know, the history," she said. “So I just started sitting down.”

Thomas added that she had never had a problem until recently, when her advisory period teacher at Lower Lake High School in Lower Lake, California, lowered her and a classmate's participation grades.

The teacher "told me I was being disrespectful," Thomas told KXTV. "I was pretty mad because she was being disrespectful to me also, saying I was making bad choices and I don’t have the choice to sit down during the pledge."

This past week, the issue came to the attention of Konocti Unified School District Superintendent Donna Becnel, who confirmed the incident took place.

"One of the students let a principal know what happened and the principal then informed me," Becnel told ABC News today. "We've since transferred the two students to another [advisory period] class."

The superintendent said she stands behind the students and their right to free speech.

"Students here have First Amendment rights, and they do not lose that when they come to school," Becnel explained. "If any students have any concerns about their right to free speech, they can speak with a site administrator. We also have policies in place to protect their right."

And while Becnel said she took the "unfortunate incident" seriously, she also hoped it "does not overshadow the great work that the rest of the district's staff and teachers have been doing."

Becnel added that the teacher who lowered the students' participation grades had only started working for the district this school year and that the district has never had any First Amendment issues in the past.

Bencel said she could not divulge what consequences, if any, the teacher could face, explaining that personnel matters were confidential.

ABC News was not immediately successful in reaching Thomas or her parents for additional comment today.
