:mjlol:You're delusion. SR 1 was better than GTA3. No debate. The only debate is SR2 versus GTA4, which I personally feel SR2 was better.

Nobody was comparing SR1 to GTA 3 back then though. GTA 3 came out like 5 years prior. The GTA that was out when SR1 dropped was San Andreas, and it obviously wasn't fukking with that.

No it wasn’t. Y’all just post anything. SR ran like shyt(it was the first and pretty much a launch game) and it was boring as shyt. 3 is the reason we even have open world gameplay in its current iteration. The second SR was much improved. But no where was it better than 4. Only thing SR has one GTA is character customization and slightly better mission structure (or did) GTA smashes then in every other aspect
:mjlol:GTA 3 was a pioneer for open world for sure, but it wasn't objectively a better game than SR.

You are comparing GTA3 to a game that game out 5 years and a whole console generation later. That alone should tell you how great GTA was for its time.

By the time SR came out San Andreas was already out, and nobody on earth viewed SR as better than San Andreas.

This some revisionist shyt you are doing here. :stopitslime:

Dog I remember getting Saints Row the Third first day off GP because of how I hard I messed with the first two entries of the series. No reviews or previews necessary. Instantly from the first hour I knew like :patrice: something was off about the game. Beat it grudgingly and never touched it again. There are countless dudes that felt that way. These corporate idiots looked at the sales #'s like :ohlawd: "That's what were talking about Volition keep it up". And the dudes at the studios are like "OK cool :leon: ". These dudes saw it was the highest selling entry and thought OK bet let's do morrrre dumb s***, completely disregarding that the fanbase bought that third entry off the goodwill they built up with the franchise. Just a textbook example about being out of touch with your fans, it's maaaad disappointing it had to end this way with the potential the series had :wow:

They totally jumped the shark starting with 3. I understand that when your main competitor (GTA) is the fastest selling entertainment product in human history every new release there's a need to do SOMETHING to differentiate yourself from them and establish your own financially viable niche/identity outside of being just a "GTA clone"... but the shift starting from 2 to 3 was too much. 4 literally wasn't even a SR game at that point; it's some goofy Prototype/Infamous superhero sim with bad graphics/presentation set in a universe completely ill-suited to that type of game. Volition should've tried to get a licensing deal with an actual Marvel/DC franchise like Deadpool if they wanted to go in that kind of ridiculous direction with their games. :francis:

:mjlol:I know my history very well. If you did, you would know that was around the console wars with Microsoft was popping off (360). GTA: SA didn't drop for XBOX originally. SR Series and GTA Series were in the middle of that console war at one point. So if you copped 360, then GTA 3 was your last game in the genre if you moved on with Microsoft. Everybody ain't rich bruh.

Like I stated, SR is objectively better than GTA at the time it dropped. It took the gang concept and made it better, the customization was better, the controls were definately better, and the story was better (minus GTA: SA). It also had vastly superior graphics at the time. There was definately a Volition versus Rockstar debate during that period.

Apparently you don’t know your history. San Andreas came out on xbox less than a year after PS2 and more than a year before Saints Row.

NOBODY ever compared SR to GTA3 Game was old as fukk by then.

SR was compared to San andreas and it was clearly the inferior game.

Console wars ain’t have shyt to do with shyt.:stopitslime:
