That's whay happens when you wait years and years to release your music. The record label moves on to new blood and the fans don't anticipate it as much. Hope the best for Sai though.

Jay Elec not having an album out is a bigger blow to hip-hop than Saigon not being a star. Elec's album can potentially make mainstream rappers re-vamp their lyrical/technical game up a la Rakim in 87 or Nas in 94. And frankly Saigon probably never would've really been a star anyway.

Like someone mentioned, he wasn't fixing to give Atlantic those 3 microwaveable singles.
He's one of those artists who does what they feel is right/songs with messages and has a small but loyal fanbase because he won't pander to mainstream desires, which is quite respectable.

:snoop: these nikkas didnt blow because they are good lyracists but their songs were not enough to really grab anyones attention outside of their cor fan base.
You have to remember just being able to rap has never been enough to be a star, you have to be entertaining in other ways as well.. and me personally I dont think he is all that :manny:

Yall know in hip hop we have a short attention span....haha If he woulda came out when he was on Entourage, I think he could've sold close to gold. The label drama with Atlantic, samples clearances, personal issues with Just played a huge part. After his buzz kinda faded, that other market of fans he could have got, left too.

Saigon has no classics.

The nikka is nice tho. Unfortunately, like other ppl said, he has no commercial appeal and missed his opportunity. But I respect the way he went about it more than how Lupe did..and I'm a bigger Lu fan.

In the end TGSNT was a very good album. As a fan of his music I really can't ask for more.

I don't care that GSNT didn't drop till last year, that's a near classic album imo.

I'll definitely give GSNT Chapter II a listen and cop if it's good enough.

Saigon is good at what he does but what he does is obsolete. In 2012 we like our thugs mind numbingly stupid & ignorant
