Philthy is runnin with Lav now who got more respect in Sac than Mozzy. Pocket watching aside, Philthy money is longer too.

The Lav/Mozzy shyt is complex...
Nobody from Sacramento will say it because Sac is disoriented and delusional, but the main reason nikkas don't like Mozzy is envy. Period! Mozzy was never supposed to be the one running with the baton for the city. There were always more popular rappers in Sac, there were BETTER rappers from Sac, there were rappers with a larger street profile than Mozzy....
But Mozzy the one who lapped nikkas and blew up. And people didn't like that, not the rappers who fit the descriptions I just mentioned, not they supporters. Mozzy blew because he had better management than everybody else. And all of this made people envious. I know this from just being in tune to the city, we all know nobody will say "I'm jealous of that nikka". You can see it and read it on nikkas...
This is why I've supported him, because that jealousy will keep our city down and isn't healthy for the growth of Sac rap. I see it for what it is, rather than taking sides, but I want to be clear...
Lav is more respected as a street nikka. Lav has always had money, he's a legit hustler and from that cloth, and was tapped in to hoods from his street background alone. But being 100, nikkas have questioned Lav too. He's done a lot of talking about knocking shyt off, and anybody in tune with Sacramento, knows he has riders for him, for sure. But Lav has been pressed in the streets and the pen....he himself isn't a gangsta. There's some sketchy shyt on his resume of him (Lav, not his people, but him personally) not activating when he needed to...
Then he has this infatuation with the Damus, but nobody from anywhere has ever vouched for him as a put on. When you're around the b dogs from anywhere, no one knows where this nikka affiliation is at. He keeps his nose clean because he not repping a Blood turf, but he's been checked on that in general...also, people know he was jealous of Mozzy at one time. That wasn't a good look, and I don't think he's jealous of Mozzy anymore, but 100% a part of his campaign was driven by envy. Alota people already thought he was a better rapper. He didn't help his own momentum by not handling that situation gracefully...
Lav is more respected because he's more accessible. For better or for worse, Lav has always been around. People know Lav. Everybody don't like him either, don't get it confused, but he always been around. People in Sacramento respect that...
Mozzy wasn't always around. His background isn't as solid, Mozzy had no large profile as a dealer, robber, nothing. So to a lot of people he came from nowhere, and then he engaged in the beef, and couldn't be found. He's really from The P and people know that side is with the biz, so he's protected. But he was on the side of the lesser-known nikka from jump, and win he started winning, it made a ton of people, including Lav, really envious...
I'm trying to break it down as best I could for people not from Sac. It's always been a complicated thing with those two. Not to draw a direct comparison, but neither are a Nipsey or Gucci to our city. There's smut in both these nikkas backgrounds. On balance yes, Lav is more respected in city streets, but some of us also realize people in Sac dislike Mozzy just for the fukk of it, and that also isn't fair to Mozzy...
