Not a fan of horror films, but I'm definitely going to check this out since I'm always drawn to films about supernatural beings. :ehh:

I think they're hyping it up too much..

The early review "OMG this is the best movie ive ever seen" "It was better than p*ssy" "blah blah OMG" commentary has been flooding my timeline.. Then this morning I see it's 100% .. which is got me browsing available seats opening night at my local theater :snoop:

I think they're ruining it setting the expectations way too high... I just know ima walk outta there like "that shyt was ight at best :stopitslime: "

I mean are either of you a fan of Coogler's films? If you are, then I don't see the reason for being skeptical. Of course it's not going to be "better than sex!" or w/e, you just ignore those hyperbolic impressions. If a film has you going to check seats and times, then that's a good thing in this day and age lol regardless if you end up being high on it or not. Seems like this will be a good time at the very minimum.

and critics are usually harder on Black films and horror films. This is both, so the fact this is getting a lot of praise so far is something of note.

I mean even the positive reviews note that it has flaws. Some are enjoying it cause they at least swung for fences.

Some brehs are gonna find the 1st half slow :unimpressed:

It is what it is.
However, the main thing is understand the first half IS like a slow burn A Rage in Harlem/Cotton Club style movie.

2nd half is the Vampire film from the trailers.

So dont be like you're surprised they didnt show up till late :ufdup: ::beli:

Again . This is the movie.
As much arthouse as grindhouse, it’s a blood-drenched mix tape that shouldn’t work. But it does, thanks to Coogler’s muscular direction, a terrific cast, enveloping IMAX visuals, body-quaking sound and music that stirs the soul.

Brehs going in expecting Blade are gonna set themselves up for failure. This is something else.
