He has somewhat of a point about healthcare but he is only thinking of those in his position. I remember Vince holding these "independent contractors" hostage to their contracts because of work hazard injuries. For someone who is a "noncomformist" he really should consider everyone's position before sounding off.

There is always upsides and downsides about being contractor vs. full-time. Basically though RVD is a brand, so he can easily earn money and be able to afford healthcare along with other stuff. For others its paycheck to paycheck, plus as well you have to actually keep track of your cash flow when taxes come.

So RVD is not wrong, but where John Oliver is, is that he is talking about everyone; a corporation should umbrella everyone. RVD's choice though, but he better have a side hustle, because even if you are a big name, the cash flow will stop at some point from the Wrestling Merchandise side or not what it once was.

He admits that he is only looking at it as someone with his stature as an upper level talent. He also says he knows why the people who only had a cup of coffee in the E would feel that way as well.

I'm not really that surprised that he feels that way since he came into the business when it was still cut throat as hell and totally different than the one that the current wrestlers deal with.

He's still tone deaf about the issue though....:yeshrug:

My painter is free to stop painting whenever and I’m free to get rid of him. Why can’t independent contractors release WWE with a 90 day notice just like the other way around?

This. He said this same speech when asked why he stay signed to Impact. His specific deal as an independent contractor is lucrative only to him, and allows him to pursue other interests outside of wrasslin.

off topic, I always wondered what the union deduction for a pro wrestler would actually be. That shyt gotta be expensive.:sadbron:
