Moldova was foolish to reject Ukraine's offer of removing Russian soldiers from Transnistria . Ukraine was hot than and could spare the ammo, russia has since gotten more artillery and they may not be able to spare the manpower to help them.

Whether Moldova accepted the request or not it wouldn't have done anything to help either country's current situation. Transnistria's request is mainly about the economic pressure Moldova has put on them but they wouldn't have made this public plea without the Russians signing off on it. More than anything its just further confirmation the Russians plan on taking the Odessa region.

this is why they should have went in back in 2022 before Russia adapted to this war. a few otehr countries should have made moves at the same time keeping russia in disarray. russia was scrambling in 2022 when their 3-day special military option was going on for weeks. i'm not saying they should have attacked russia but they should have made more diplomatic and domestic moves that made it clear they were moving away from their sphere of influence.

British Soldiers Helping Fire Ukrainian Missiles, Olaf Scholz Reveals

Germany was accused of a “flagrant abuse of intelligence” after revealing that British soldiers are supporting Ukrainian forces launching long-range Storm Shadow missiles.

Olaf Scholz said on Monday that he would not deliver the Taurus, Berlin’s equivalent of the Storm Shadow, as it would require soldiers assisting on the ground, citing the UK and French approach with their own systems. Mr Scholz argued that following the UK would make Germany a “participant in the war”.

A lot of people have this misperception that all NATO countries are doing is just supplying weapons and money not involved in the military operations in Ukraine. When you look at certain weapon systems that we've delivered to Ukraine like the Patriots, IRIS-T, ATACMS etc., it takes several years of training for NATO personnel to become proficient with using these systems. Governments announced they were delivering a new weapon system to Ukraine and then magically in several months its active on the battlefield and producing results.

The 24/7 AWACS flights in the Black Sea, Polish and Romanian borders. The dozens of NATO satellites constantly watching and monitoring the Russian military movements. Just the advantage in ISR that we have has been invaluable to Ukraine. The Ukrainians have fought hard but they would not be able to put up the fight they have without extensive help from NATO. It just doesn't take a genius to know we are more heavily involved in this conflict than what our governments are telling us. Macron's reaction to that missile strike at that hotel in Kharkiv some weeks back says a lot and that active French military personnel were more than likely killed.

Geopolitical rivals sending "military advisors" to assist in a proxy war is nothing new. The Soviets did it us in Korea and Vietnam and we did it to them in Afghanistan however there was always a limit to what either party would do. If NATO personnel are actively engaged in striking Russian targets in Russia that's just a step too far and dangerous.

Ukraine attacking and occupying a breakaway region would have done nothing to solve their problems in 2022 or today. Whoever occupies Transnistria does not determine the outcome of this war. The Russians are just baiting Ukraine or Moldova to do something that gives them carte blanche to take the Odessa region.

ukraine still has to allocate soldiers and equipment to those borders just like that have to with Belarus. they wouldn't have to worry about looking over their shoulder if they bordered with Moldova instead of Transnistria.

KYIV — Ukrainian special services are hunting Russians abroad, Andriy Yusov, an official with Ukraine’s HUR military intelligence, told POLITICO.
“Ukrainian intelligence has to be present wherever there is a need to destroy the enemy, which is waging a full-scale war against Ukraine. We are present wherever it is possible to weaken the interests of Russia,” Yusov said in Kyiv.
“As for Sudan … I can neither confirm nor deny,” he added with a smile.
Earlier this month, the Kyiv Post published a video of Ukrainian special forces questioning Russian-speaking fighters captured in Sudan who said they were with the Wagner Group mercenary outfit. On the video, a Russian-speaking Ukrainian soldier that HUR identified by his call-sign, "Timur," asks one of the prisoners where he is from and why he came to Sudan.
“We are from Wagner private military company. [We came here] to overthrow the local government,” the fighter responds in Russian.
The mercenary added there were a hundred Wagner fighters in Sudan, and that they were based in the neighboring Central African Republic.
In November, the Kyiv Post obtained two videos purporting to show Ukrainian special forces operators hunting Russian mercenaries in Sudan.
Russia has a significant footprint in Africa, initially led by Wagner Group mercenaries but now called the Africa Corps and formed by the Russian defense ministry. They have a presence across Africa's Sahel region and in Burkina Faso as well as in Libya, according to a report by the Warsaw-based Centre for Eastern Studies.
"The military juntas that have seized power in many countries of the Sahel region in recent years see Russia as a protector in both the domestic and international arenas, and are keen to cooperate with it in the field of defence," the report said.
That makes attacking the Russian presence in Africa a way of combating the Kremlin's reach abroad.
“The Russian terrorist network of so-called military companies on the territory of the African continent continues to work and engage in illegal activities and support for local terrorist groups,” Yusov said.
He added: “Everything that Ukraine does [abroad] is done within the framework of international law and in cooperation with local governments and our international partners."

Ukrainian special services like HUR and the SBU intelligence agency have been playing an active part in non-conventional warfare, hitting Russia where it hurts the most, SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk said on Sunday.
Africa is seen by Kyiv as one of those pain points.
In September CNN reported HUR was likely behind strikes on Wagner-backed forces in Sudan that launched a coup in April 2023.
Wagner was badly mauled by Ukrainian forces in the battle for control of the eastern city of Bakhmut — prompting its leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, to launch his aborted drive toward Moscow last June.
Many Wagner mercenaries were sent to Africa in the wake of the battle for Bakhmut, and Prigozhin himself also showed up there before being killed in an airplane crash widely blamed on the Russian government.

Poland detains Russian on charges of working with ISIS

Ukrainska Pravda
Poland detains Russian on charges of working with ISIS

Poland's Internal Security Agency (ABW) has arrested a citizen of the Russian Federation suspected of aiding Islamist terrorist organisations.

Source: European Pravda, citing RMF FM

Details: The National Prosecutor's Office has reported that the detained individual is a citizen of the Russian Federation from the Caucasus.

Investigation materials indicate that he participated in combat in Syria before coming to Poland.

The man allegedly belonged to armed terrorist groups – the prosecution specifies that he started out working with the Jabhat al-Nusra organisation, then Al-Qaeda, and finally ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant).

The Russian citizen has already been charged with aiding international terrorist organisations, and faces up to eight years in prison.

The detainee will be held in custody for the next three months without bail, due to the severity of the pending charges and the fact that he has been deemed a flight risk.

Background:

  • The court of the Polish city of Lublin found 14 citizens of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine guilty of orchestrating sabotage operations on behalf of Moscow as a part of a spy network on 19 December.
  • Previously, 16 individuals were charged with espionage in November.
