The Arsenal
It grounded its MiGs in the summer due to a lack of spare parts and maintenance experts after Russian technicians returned home.

hmm so Russia was so scared of the NATO threat (had to invade Ukraine because of self-preservation) that they were helping a former soviet bloc country and now NATO member maintain their soviet era military equipment.

Kazakhstan just lined themselves up for a Russian humanitarian intervention, but I respect the ballsiness

Theyre not Ukraine though, they would get bodied by Russia and the whole north taken which plays into Putins ethnic Russian fever dream. From GFP (Global Firepower)

Notes:
The ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War has showcased key limitations in Russian military capabilities despite its quantitative manpower and material advantage over neighboring Ukraine - shedding light on preparedness, leadership, training, and supply issues. While it maintains its No.2 placement in the GFP index for the current year (despite material losses incurred in the months-long war), No.3 China is closing in on the spot mainly due to consistent strength in primary categories, expansion in critical categories, and its global financial reach.

Russia is still no.2 world wide and no.1 in Eastern Europe, Ukraine is no.15 worldwide and the second most powerful in Eastern Europe ahead of no.3 Poland.

Kazakshtan is no 65. Globally and its miltary is comparable to a Morocco or post Civil War Syria

Cant argue with that at all :yeshrug: but for sure Vlad gonna place them in that Moldova/Georgia category, especially after Russian CSTO "peacekeepers" quelled that uprising in Kazakhstan right before the war popped off.

On an unrelated note I was looking at this chart of foreign fighters in Ukraine, theres alot of Americans, alot of Poles, Germans, Norwegians, even some Brazilians thrown in... but NOBODY is signing up to kill Russians like the Georgians  so like you said.. its now or never everybody gotta get in where they fit in

What's the play in Bakmut/strategic significance of the city? They're talking about a possible encirclement if they don't pull out. Only reason I can think of to stay put is that they still got civilians in the city.

Putin needs to sell something to his people after the Kherson debacle. They have been bombing Bakmut for months.... unsustainable strategy but for propaganda purposes he can use the city to sell the war after it falls.

any former soviet state not in NATO thats wary of russia taking away their independent status should make the move now and see if russia is willing to open up multiple war fronts.
