That is a better goal for us in the West
We dont want Russia to be "defeated" only for them to go home and regroup in 10 years with battle hardened troops that survived the Ukraine war training a new generation for the real fight against NATO. Better to keep them in a quagmire thats bleeds them out indefinitely, while not having to actually accept Ukraine into NATO and the EU
How long can that realistically be kept up?
So far all we are seeing is a strengthened resolve by the West to give Ukraine what they need to win more and more as time goes by. Nobody wants this war to drag out simply to bleed out Russia. Many other things are negatively affected by this war that demand an expeditious end.
Not gonna lie though, the West is amped to finally test their new shyt against... Soviet surplus?
