It's crazy how little leverage Putin actually has (or had, pre Trump). His response to the magnitsky act--which could realistically turn the oligarchs against him--was to ban adoptions to the US... Who actually gives a fukk if they can adopt Russian kids?
I have two books on Putin which both talks about his rise and personality. One book actually list the oligarchs who put him in power and there are many but his personality trait will be his downfall. He is too reckless and coniving to be successful very long. I see this being his downfall focusing too much on America and not interest at home. Before he came to power Russia had no problems dealing with American money laundering etc...this guy comes in aggressive trying to bring back USSR openly.
