Oscar loves Russ tho. Honestly, the only player you really hear Oscar hating on is MJ.

I wouldn't call that hate, there's a consensus amongst guys older than Mike in that the vast majority of them don't see him as the undisputed, unchallenged GOAT. Why should that be viewed as hate? To them he's just one of the GOATs but not "the" GOAT...

Its Mike's generation and the one that followed his that have controlled media influence and narrative for the last ~30 years, these are the people who made Jordan an untouchable GOAT. Mike so used to everybody kissing his ass that anyone who dares mention there's anyone else in his class is labeled a hater...

I get that part, but Oscar loves Russ, LeBron and he loved Magic too when he played. I think it’s simply gravitating towards players who had a similar style such as his, that all around game and partly combined with what you’re saying MJ being labeled as the GOAT (even before he ever won a ring).

Just to edit this part of my quote; O had 148 of his triple doubles in his first seven seasons, an average of 21.1 per year, and only 33 in his last seven seasons, an average of 4.7 per year. So his triple doubles were Westbrook's in reverse, essentially...

I've been searching for a historical record on the drop off in O's triple doubles and the best I can find is he was clashing with Cousy in Cincinnati on his play style, so maybe that affected his approach. Also, by the time he got to Milwaukee he was a declining player in general, and didn't have to play the same way anyway because Alcindor was there...

I still think the organic nature of him going for 148 in his first 7 years has a different aesthetic appeal than Brodie's. O knew he had a lot of rebounds and assists but since triple double wasn't a thing, he wasnt going out hunting them, he was just doing everything he could to win...

I think Westbrook gives 100% commitment to winning but his philosophy isn't pure, because as I mentioned he showed us last year he can play better without looking for triple doubles every night. We saw it, its in him, it just feels like he gave up one thing, in order to do another...

My only disagreement with this assessment is organic nature of his triple double, the whole point of sports is to impose your will on the court, field, pitch, etc against your competition....

Its not like westbrook is Jerry Stackhouse status putting up stats without a winning record

But some other things to consider is the following:
-David Robinson getting 71 points to win the scoring title, was that organic?
- Kobe(rip) getting 81 points, was that organic?
- Jordan averaging 33, 8, 8, was that organic?
- LeBron not shooting buzzer beaters back in early 2010s to protect his shooting percentage, was that organic?
- Devin Booker getting 70 points was that organic?
- Stockton force feeding Malone in 1997 and 1998 to win MVP, was that organic? ( I hate Malone, I feel it was organic those Jazz teams rosters, wtf)

While I understand the point your making, its no different than people saying I like college basketball over the NBA cause they play pure and the right way:mjpls:

This organic narrative only gets thrown at Russ. Most NBA legends statpad, to act like Russ has had NBA championship roster since 2016 is false narrative
Even now Bradley Beal has been out the last 3-4 games but I've heard poster complain of the Wizards losing to the Hawks twice, have you seen their roster:why:

Honestly, I watched the history making highlight and literally cut the video off.

No hate, but dude had a center right next to him but instead of doing what he's paid to do, buddy literally moved out the way to let Russ get the rebound.

It was crazy to see to me

his entire team boxes out or moves out the way to let him get those rebounds. Idk... regardless, this will probably be the highlight of his career so :yeshrug:

That's not generally the case if you watch him play a lot. Plus if the Cs are letting him get the rebounds it's actually beneficial because the offense can attack quickly in transition before the defense sets itself. Wizards are number one in pace because of how much we attack in transition off of his rebounds whether they are staged or not.

Not impressed only because I don't think Magic or Oscar chased them. Russ does.

Imo, there are several players in the league that can break this record if they chased em
No they can't. If they could they would.

Magic Johnson literally said he couldn't do it and that it was impossible.

Maybe LeBron in his prime. Even then, he wouldn't get 42 in a season.

People need to quit acting like anyone could do it. They would if they could. Just appreciate greatness instead of hating

Yes. Several players in the NBA can manage to get 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists over 100 times if that's what they wanted to go after.

You don't think Magic and O could've gotten many more of they actually chased that stat?

They did great just letting the game come to them. Imagine going specifically for these metrics
