For real :ohhh:

I always heard people complaining about no picks being attached to the deal.
Yea, if I remember correctly, the Clips had no intention on trading Blake, SVG just called them up and asked if he was available, they must've been like "and a 1st round pick? :dwillhuh:" That's why the trade came out of nowhere and was done so quickly. They weren't bidding against anyone and SVG just gave up a pick like it was nothing :francis:

Simmons for harden made too much sense not to be true

If I'm Morey and I have to give up 1 of my stars to get Harden I'd rather flip Embiid :yeshrug:. They're not winning anything in Philly anyway. Having watched what the Rockets were doing last season I couldn't help but think what sort of numbers Simmons would put up in Westbrook's role in that system especially with the team not really losing out on rebounding as much because Simmons is much taller than Tucker and Westbrook. Get some 3 and D guys around Harden and you're good to go. Put the ball in Simmons' hands when the team is in transition, let Harden have his little ISOs and open up the hole for Simmons with all of the extra spacing. It seems like a better fit to me than Harden + Embiid if you want to keep the tempo up.

Like i said in an earlier post. This might not be a bad thing if you can properly build the team around Harden. You can get out of Russ contract. PJ tucker is not worth resigning at 35 years old. EG isnt bad at all but injury prone. if you can move him, great. iF not, he has a role off the bench. Austin and House can bounce.

Simmons is also injury prone. Embiid is the better player. I’m not sure many would dispute that.

embiid also has a stronger relationship with ownership and is the bigger star. Politics. An embiid trade is very unrealistic imo

I know the Clippers didn't send any picks to Detroit in the deal, but I totally didn't know that Detroit actually attached one themselves in order to get him. Especially considering in the GS/Minnesota deal, Minnesota had to attach a first even as they were taking on a worse contract.

I know that Detroit was desperate to get a star for their arena at the time, but damn. That's why I wouldn't take on the Russ contract until Houston attaches at least two first in the deal. Russ contract is going to age terribly.
