Rush Limbaugh: Idris Elba Should Not Be James Bond ... Hue Is Wrong!

I Would have no problem with Idris being bond but;

1. he is 41 NOW, if Craig honours his contract, then Idris would not take the role until his late 40's early 50's, I doubt execs would want the Roger Moore situation again

2. Bond IS the same person and not a code name, do some of you just skim through the movies or something, to fit in Idris or any black actor the whole thing would need to be rebooted again.

3. Why can't we start black franchises to rival Bond, Indiana Jones, Rocky etc etc.

Points 1 and 2 in particular. I don't want to see a guy start playing Bond in his late 40s early 50s. Hell no. Roger Moore's last few movies prove that should never happen. And Craig is even getting up there in age. Homie is 47 and still has two more flicks left meaning he may be damn near 60 when he's done or maybe it's one more including Spectre. Either way he'll be going out at the right time. Bond should always be in his early to mid 30s or at least look like it. Idris would've been dope several years ago.

And I'm convinced dudes just skim these movies because it's clear it's the same guy. Like there shouldn't even be a debate.

But it's not a code name brehs. James Bond as a character has a background. They even showed his parents graves in skyfall. It's one man played by different actors. Daniel Craig is the first of them to break the cycle due to it being a reboot but he's still James bond. It would still be easy to make him a black man though by doing this one simple thing: don't acknowledge it. His race is hardly ever acknowledged in the movies minus the ones from the 60s and live and let die from 1973 where it had to be acknowledged. But I feel like if a black man took over it wouldn't make a difference in the storytelling

I think it could still happen but then you'd have to do another reboot or find some plausible explanation to his history that you've already established. Which could be a headache in itself

Its just a movie. Anyone can play bond... white, black, mexican, asian... They can make the story however they want if they choose to. Aint no rules to this. Dont need any explanation or codenames.

Lets fess up that new background add in for Bond was wack. Seems like the writers were influenced from watching too much Batman. I say do a whole new character and expand the Bond universe. I'm black and I want to see more African Americans in action roles but they've established Bond as a white boy for 50+ years. Make Idris a new character then we'll truly have something for our own instead of some studio spin sh*t that whites will hate on and make people not enjoy sh*t they way they supposed to. Certain times I don't mind but there's times where I just want to enjoy and embrace something without cac anger and hatred all the f*cking time. Just like with comic book movie sh*t, instead of making white characters black just bring out the traditional characters like they did with The Falcon.

We know this but at the same time its normal for an intelligence agency to have more than ONE AGENT. Its 2014-15.. introduce a new character for crying out loud..


And I definitely agree with your #3.. Tyler Perry+Oprah+A big liberal Jew exec could make this happen easily if they really wanted to see something like that

That's fair, but I guess it didn't bug me since I knew all that shyt coming in so it wasn't a shock to the system. But you're not the first person I've heard have that opinion but that's also because not everyone is a die-hard Bond fan. Like I found out about his background from watching those movies I mentioned but also this special made for British television but they sold it in the US on DVD so I rented it in 97 or 98 and it talked about his background and also the different guys who've played Bond up to that point and how they all approached the character. But obviously not everyone cares enough to beg their mom to rent that and not every new Bond fan has seen all of the movies and there are certainly people who still don't know the movies are based on books. And in the books, or at least a few of them, his background is a huge part of them and it always informs the character and that's what Mendes and the team was getting at with Skyfall. A lot of his issues all go back to losing his parents and developing this lack of trust etc. It's definitely a big part of Casino Royale

That's the issue man. Age. I feel like him Tom hardy or Fassbender would be good choices but the problem is they're all getting up their in age and the bond movies haven't been on a consistent schedule since the 90s. Spectre is next year but it could be another three years before the next so who knows

It's possible he could but if he can't it's an issue for me. I've seen older Bond and I'm not a fan. But if I'm proven wrong then that's cool
