He absolutely wanted it. Apparently he ran out in tears but then a kid saw him right before he got in his limo and praised the performance to the point Michael knew he did something truly special, and from that point Michael was the biggest star in the world.

He LOVED Janet as we saw throughout the years and you can tell their love was genuine. Was the same as when they were kids. Especially loved the fact she was her own person and had her own money and wasn't begging him for money like their brothers.
