They want to occupy top sales charts and try to remain a net positive for the Xbox division. Since they fumbled their HW strategy now they publish 3rd party to get there. Need to recoup that money and their own platform is nowhere near enough, on top of cannibalizing sales via GamePass.

Also explains their infatuation with owning popular IPs. They expect to just publish iterative releases on franchises and expect to sell.

yep.

slowly but surely its going to go from xbox to microsoft gaming, which is really just Activision & friends with maybe a handheld. They bought a way bigger and more successful gaming company thats going to make all their xbox game studio games just irrelevent. Especially now that Satya is in pure profit mode

If the next XBOX comes out like a budget PC specifically tailored for gaming :ohhh:they could price it slightly higher than the PS6 and it would still do numbers because it's pioneering a whole new lane: a fusion between gaming PCs and consoles.

Microsoft wins again :wow:i pretend to be above the fukkery but we all know where my heart lies. But all jokes aside that'd be a fire ass pivot because eventually consoles wouldn't be seen as necessary and the tables will turn. Gaming PCs will finally take over once and for all, Sony gotta cop out because they can't compete in that arena (unless they too somehow pivot into making literal PCs too).

This sht is legitimately interesting, and I think you brehs for shedding light on this. As a bears fan I know all about pulling hope out of thin air, I believe

Well, the current software stack already functions very much like that. The only promising factor would be a Windows OS more to gaming spec since the native builds are fairly ass.

They COULD do a fusion along the lines of say, the GamePass machine and embed it with an upcoming SteamOS release, but they'd have to embrace the re-implementation of Windows code and they get no monies from that, and who knows about certification through Valve as they haven't fully embraced 3rd party with the system OS - yet.

Anyways, they kind of already had the recipe and botched it. I don't see them going back unless they start making massive amounts of money. Considering their development style, methinks not.

I think they’ll see what internet speeds/latency look like and datacenter resources and determine if they can get away with in the same way ass the “Windows App”/“desk less worker” space.

If 'Xbox' ends up 'pioneering' mass-produced budget gaming PCs, anyone with iBuyPower/CyberPower stock prolly should get up out the game right now.

that said... ultimately, it would just be Microsoft selling PCs. how surprising :unimpressed: The real winners in that hypothetical scenario would honestly be Valve

Get someone else to release the steam console for you:wow:
