Low key...didnt mind the wood block snare in p fires joint. I though it added to the production. What it does give complete control for lyrics to consume the space. Hard drums can take that attention span quick, but also want to make you write a 16 on the spot :wow:

For Q that sample is classic, I was towards my tail end of college when that floetry popped off (shiiiiieeeet :wow::whew::noah::francis:) I caught that right way breh:salute:. Flip is exceptional as you kept the integrity of the sample intact.

Went with producing fire due to the ambience of the production. Sampling strings has an undefeated record :whew:

producingfire with a smooth beat:dwillhuh:. I like it especially the strings. Only problem is CuzinQ does smooth beats so well it's damn near impossible to beat him with one. I thought you'd stick with the aggressive sound but I understand why you'd want to switch it up.

I voted for Q. His beat just sounds more full and that bassline :scust:
Thanks Supa! I appreciate the listen. I went away from making battle beats for this round to focus on making a artist friendly record, but that's ok, I'll go back to battle beats from here on out. The margin is razor thin now.

Both beats are dope af

@producingfire really liked that sound you used for your snare/clap. Added more texture to the song to go along with that sample.
@CuzinQ
Good ish as well, that bass line is ill.
When that synth came in i was like:wow:

Ended voting for producingfire.. in the end those strings n snare combo got me but it was close af:whew:

Sat with both of these for a few days. Both fire.

@producingfire I love the vibe of your track. I can hear prime Kanye on that. Mix is great. The wood block could be lowered a little, but I like the sound selection regardless. I think it could have benefited from more drums to build the energy around the half way point. Also, I don’t feel like it was the best choice for a sample for this round as it didn’t really strike me as a “soul” beat, but “soul” is pretty broad regardless.

@CuzinQ killed his. Dope sample. Great instrumentation over the top. Drums were on point. Felt like it fit the theme a bit more.

great battle, gentlemen. Voted @CuzinQ on this one.

I appreciate the listen Mike!
I compromised on my belief, when I think "battle I think aggressive, but when I think soul, I think make a great song, it's all good though I planned for this to happen, now I have to make an unprecedented run, it's going to be tough with everyone else in that win or go home block, but as long as I get free rain to do what I want these next few rounds will be special.

sounds like @CuzinQ got the win and i don't know if could've even voted anyways but i'd give it to him for sure as well.

that beat was fukking fire man. that bassline, the shyt you played over the top of the sample, lots of movement in the sounds, little touches here and there. damn son. production-wise you showed out. :whew:

@producingfire your beat was dope too. much more simple but it was still nice. maybe even more "rappable" than what @CuzinQ did. i think that super reverby woodblock snare thing was a big problem though. not enough attack on that shyt to really hit and act like a snare. so it just felt like we were waiting for the "real snare" to come and have the whole thing really pop off.

it's fukking great that you're having this tourney though. kudos to whoever is putting this on.
just clicked on a random battle. sharing my thoughts. :manny:
