When did black people just grow such a deep fondness for these two specific breeds? I dont think anyone has ever clarifies this and I know most of them are not mongrels but AKCs so when did this start exactly and who started it?

I've had 2 Rottweilers in my life....both died of like hip dysplexia or something like that. 
But they're great dogs.
Far as the topic goes, they're big thick dogs with a menacing look with that can easily be trained to fight/defend.....so hood nikkas have used them to fight.

grew up wit rotweilers in the yard ........loved it ......started off with german shepards but fell in love with them weiller purebreeds ........they great animals very loyal gentle unless someone comes near their mster.............

Very good dogs that can be highly trained, my grandfather always had dobermans and rottys in his garages. Just saw Rhodesian Ridgeback while I was jogging, there are like boxers but with wider torsos. Good looking dog, I think that will be my next breed if I ever have one again.

like someone posted earlier pits & rotts are agressive breeds that most nyggas identify with. its an extention of our masculenaty, just like big block old schools, fast motorcycles, fast cars etc. i used to raise and breed Rotts. I had german Rotts, my male weighed about 140 lbs and my female as about 115. they were some beasts!
